Crossroads of Destiny

As troubling visions assail the oracle prince of Carendlus, something stirs in the vast lands of wilderness that lay bordering the kingdom. Amrunela and Jaekel decide to investigate as ignoring visions is something that no one in their right mind would do. Joining in their adventure is one rather eccentric fellow and a much more sane half-dragon.

"It had happened twenty-three years ago in the wildlands of Nix'Ryl.

Several people surrounded a figure, clad in a grey cloak, they were dressed in rag tag armor. The figure was tapping a finger against her arm. The people surrounding her seemed nervous.

"Give up, witch, and come with us, your reign of terror is over!"

"Witch? Reign of terror? What have I done to you to be so called? Just because I am different?"

"Shut up! Something like you deserves to die!"

As they went to rush her, a large shape swooped down and scooped the grey cloaked female up. It was a slender dragon, oddly enough it was a grey color which was not in any way a normal color for one of these creatures. The female immediately scampered up to rest in the saddle on its back.

"Thank you, you always seem to show up right when I need help."

"Well, I am following you," The voice of the dragon was deep, throaty, and the words it said came off matter of fact if a little creepy.'"

Jaekel woke up, this was the fifth time he had dreamed of these two. It had been a week since Amrunela's birthday and his dreams had been confusing ever since. Despite this constant dreaming of the dragon and girl, he knew nothing of them. Except that the dragon seemed to be able to change its color almost like a chameleon, only better. Either that or it was more than one dragon.

He pushed his black hair out of his eyes as he sat up, with a sigh. It bugged him that he had no idea what these dreams meant. Were they friend, foe? What? Was there any significance to these dreams?

His thoughts refused to move away from these dreams and he let out a sigh. As much as he always tried to act like these dreams never bothered him, sometimes they did. Even though he was highly used to them, if he was unsure what they were about it would start driving him crazy.

He left his room and made his way towards Rune's tower, waiting on her. He wanted to see if she would like to take a walk with him. Whenever his dreams started affecting him like this, spending time with Rune always made him feel better. He was rather thankful for this. Their friendship had long been a source of great comfort to him, and he had always been rather pleased with the knowledge that it would last for the rest of their lives.

When he saw his best friend finally emerge from her room, he greeted her with a smile. "Mornin' Rune, sleep well?"

She started a little, and then her grey eyes sparkled happily, "Jaek! Good morning" She started laughing, "And as for sleeping well, I ain't the one who has bad dreams all the time…"

He laughed, "Point taken," He reached for her head and ruffled her hair affectionately, "But my dreams are not always bad, sometimes they are just confusing…"

"Did you have a dream last night," She ducked away from the hand on top of her head.

"Yeah… but I can't make heads or tails of it." He shook his head, "Never mind that, do you want to go for a walk?" He gave her his best puppy eyes, which made her laugh.

"Alright, and just for the record… puppy eyes don't suit you, your highness." She was all smiles, which he reflected did suit her quite well.

He grinned at her, "But it makes you laugh, so whatever."

The two of them walked together down the halls that were so familiar to both of them. Jaekel found himself relaxing just being by the breath of fresh air that was his best friend. She seemed to be in deep thought.

He glanced at her, a grin on his face, "So, whatcha thinking about? Care to share?"

She glanced over at him, her eyes filled with deep fondness, "Well, I was just thinking that life is good…"

"Aye, it is." Jaekel smiled at her gently, "And we have not even hit the best part yet."

A look of confusion entered her eyes, "Best part? What are you talking about?"

"Well, we are still rather young, and well…" He cleared his throat, "We have not experienced love as of yet." Suddenly Jaekel felt extremely awkward and embarrassed, wondering why he had even brought this up.

Sylv's Corner:

"Why would that make him feel awkward? Just another part of life, ain't it? No point getting flustered over somethin' so natural. Silly humans."
