Chapter 1.2: Metamorphosis

I woke up at around 11 PM. I couldn't help but be worried about Sonic and Tails, I just wanted them to be OK. So, I decided to try and help them. I dont care if it's late at night, and that I should be asleep, I'll be back before anyone even knows that I woke up!

I quietly got up from bed, and got dressed. I once again grabbed my grey jacket and put it on. It was cold that night anyway. Then, I went to my office room and grabbed the chaos emerald, then, I quietly opened the door, leaving my house and walking. I could chaos control to the prison, but I dont want to draw attention to myself. If I did that, then there would be a whole SCANDAL that I'd rather not get into..

I began running towards where the bus stop was, but i got tired pretty fast. There was NO way I could make it to the county prison by running like this.. But I had to try. I thought of what Sonic always does, he never gives up on fighting Eggman, not for a minute! And if he was here, he'd cheer me on and tell me to do the right thing.

So I started running again, my speed increase and increased, then.. I felt something indescribable. Like tons of energy rushing into me. Then, there was a cyan flash and suddenly, i was running at incredible speeds, like a cheetah. "WOAH-" I managed to brake and stop myself. I was now on a different street.. I apparently ran all the way to a sort of town area which my bus always goes by and stops to pick up some kids at a hotel. I quickly ran over to the trees, but I didn't go hyperspeed. My body felt.. different. What just happened?

I noticed there was a body of water nearby and walked over to it. When I looked over the water, I saw my reflection and jumped back out of shock. My body had changed completely.. I wasn't a HUMAN anymore.. or am I still human? I didn't know.

I looked over the body of water again.

I was now a hedgehog-like creature.. with green stripes on the spines, black fur, one green eye, and one red eye, etc. I looked at my hands, or rather gloves now.. This was weird as heck, but at the same time, It was almost cool! I shaked off the feeling, now was not the time to dwell on what just happened, I needed to save Sonic and Tails!

So I left the body of water and lowered myself, and then I performed a spindash, speeding past tons of cars on the road. I jumped over one car actually! Then, in about under two minutes, I was beside the county prison.

'I think I'm going to enjoy getting used to this!' I thought as I looked over myself again. I jumped over the fence pretty easily. it seems like my jump height increased to the height that Sonic could jump at in the games. It felt so cool!

Anyways, I saw a few crates and used those to get onto the roof of the prison. I started looking around the roof for a way in, afterall vents are pretty useful for getting around, long as nobody sees of course. And luckily, there was a vent. Problem was how to get it open..

I took out the chaos emerald and whispered "Chaos..SPEAR!", summoning a chaos spear, obviously. I threw the chaos spear at the vent cap, and it was effectively gone. That was easy.

I entered into the vent and started crawling through the vent systems, which were big enough for my 'spines" to not be crammed up. It took some time to crawl through the vents, but eventually I started hearing.. voices. People talking to eachother. I followed the voices to another vent cover. I looked threw the cover and I could see Sonic and Tails tied up, along with a few police officers in there with them..

"Hey when are you gonna let us go? Me and my buddy did nothing wrong!" Sonic said, looking at the officers and sticking his tongue out at them.

"Terrorizing citizens of this state IS wrong." One of the officers said, walking up to Sonic and staring at him intensely. "As a matter of fact, we got a tip that you two have been causing trouble everywhere here..so now were going to make sure you cant any further." The officer walked back over to his co-workers, who then raised their pistols.

"Execute them!" The officer yelled, and they fired their pistols. Time seemed to slow down for me as adrenaline pumped through my body, and I kicked the vent cover open, dropping down and I screamed as loud as I could: "CHAOS CONTROL!", Teleporting myself along with the tied up duo into the air, dodging the bullets. Then we fell back to the ground as dust cleared up from the air from when I dropped down and when I teleported us.

"What the hell..?" The officer looked through the dust, and we made eye contact.

"Nobody messes with my friends." I spoke with confidence, then I jumped into the air, and I could for a moment see targets, then I homing attacked each of the officers depending on what targets appeared, which knocked them out I think.

(Sonic POV)

Sonic stared at the hedgehog, stunned by what just happened. As the dust cleared, so did it, or her, features appear. She had green neon stripes on her spines and ebony fur.

The hedgehog turned around. One of her eyes was emerald, and the other was a ruby color.

"Did you think I was gonna leave you behind, blue speedster?" The hedgehog grins.

(Julia POV)

"Chaos..Spear!" I summoned a chaos spear and threw it at the ropes that Sonic and Tails were tied up in. Sonic practically jumped out of the chair he was tied up in and Tails hopped off

"That was amazing!" Tails said, looking at me impressed.

"Ah jeez, it really wasn't anything too special." I awkwardly replied, itching the back of my head.

The alarms began to go off. "We should get out of here before they can get reinforcements." I noted. Tails and Sonic nodded and we spindashed out of the room, running through the hallway. I could see an exit jsut at the end of the halls, but then a bunch of cops blocked the way. No going back either, as cops were also right behind us..

I chuckled. "Is that all you got?" I said, then I homing attacked the guards that were blocking the exit. My mind found it strange that I was pretty much able to do these moves first try even though i have no knowledge on how to trigger them. Either way, it worked.

All three of us managed to run out of the exit door. Now the question was how to get fast. I looked towards the fence but it seemed to have been electrified, presumably by generators.

"Over there!" Tails pointed to what appeared to be a small runway. on the other side of the runway looked like a plane. Tails bolted over to it, then Sonic and I followed Tails.

I could recognize the plane from miles away. It was the Tornado, I've seen it multiple times in several of the games.

..Is this a bad time to mention I hate being off the ground?

Tails would get into the Tornado and Sonic just jumped onto one of the wings. I nervously jumped onto the other wing and the plane started. There were several cops running towards the plane but we took off faster than they could try to shoot it down.

We were REALLY high in the air.. I kept looking down and my body tensed. I didn't want to stand incase I could fall to my death..

Sonic noticed that I was staring below, and also shaking. "You okay? You look like you've just seen a giant sand snake." He turns his head to me.

"Oh- I'm uh- I'm fine. Just..I'm not really used to being this high up the the uh- clouds." I replied.

"Just dont look ONLY at the ground! Plus, the views nice." He walked over and reached his hand out to me. I grabbed it and stood up.

I took a deep breath and looked not JUST at the ground but also the rest of the sky above, the large buildings brimming with all kinds of lights.. Instead of scarring it was almost.. Dazzling.

"See?" Sonic grins then walks back over to the other wing of the plane he was on and just felt the wind blowing.

I couldn't have felt more amazed in my life..
