Chapter Seventy One

"Oh, no, you didn't!"

That was the first thing Lia said to Chase when he came home from work that night, holding a small animal crate.

She had several reasons to be unhappy.

One, he was late coming home, and he didn't tell her. She was preparing for the worst. How the fuck could she afford their apartment on a single salary?

Two, she had explicitly told him, a few days ago, when he hinted at the subject, that she didn't want any pets. She had explained it to him in the calmest way possible.

Three, it was Friday night, and she had just gotten out of an hour-long shower, after having carefully prepared for a weekend worth of sex. This was not what she had in mind when she texted him that she wanted to have a "fun and dirty" weekend. With that animal crate in his hand, it looked like they were going to get dirty, but not in a sexy way.
