Chapter 46: The Prison Escape

Abigail’s POV

“Don’t be ridiculous, Abigail,” Momma dismissed me with a wave of her hand. “You can’t actually be moving out; you have nowhere to go.”

My honesty was taken by her like I was reading a script. She thought I was too stupid to come up with a plan on how my story ended. But even if she wanted to rewrite it, I wouldn’t let her. I needed to know this story was finally my own.

“I’m moving out,” I repeated. “With Elle.” I held my breath.

Momma lost control of her stone posture. Her arms were no longer crossed. They were now in fists that were shaking as they swelled with rage. The veins in her neck and forehead were throbbing faster to match her racing heartbeat.

“That woman I told you to never see anymore?” She inched toward me. Her steps were heavy and thumped down the hallway.

“Yes.” I clenched my jaw and braced myself for her impact. “I like her, Momma.”
