Chapter 38: Out Of The Water And Onto The Land

Abigail’s POV

I leaned into her for another kiss in the middle of the lake. The happy butterflies in my stomach, her arms, and the buoyancy of the calm water made me feel weightless.

“Do you trust me, Abby?” Elle leaned to my ear to whisper.

Elle released her grip on me, but I still had my hands on her shoulders for support.

“Of course, I do,” I said.

Had I made her feel otherwise? I didn’t understand where her thoughts were going. Did she think I was uncomfortable? I was hot even in the cool water, my heart was racing, and I craved more adrenaline.

She gently moved my hands from her body, and I was left to float in the cool abyss that surrounded us. I missed her warmth, but I trusted her first move.

“I’ll go first…” she said. Her hands disappeared behind her back, and her muscles were flexing as she fished for something back there that I could not see.

“What are you –” I wanted to ask, but I got my answer before she could reply with words.
