What are we? IV

"Good morning sir" The gatekeeper cut in as his boss walked out.

"Good morning, who is that?"

"No one sir, just a guy" The gatekeeper replied, still holding the

pedestrian gate open.

"Sir I'm Archer and I'm here to work!" Archer yelled from the gate. The gatekeeper twitched his face in disgust. The boss stopped abruptly, gazing at both parties.

"Let him in" he finally said.

The gatekeeper being choice-less pushed open the big gate for him to walk in. Archer felt fulfilled as he marched into the big compound and before him stood a huge duplex building, painted with white and grey colours. He marvelled at the sight in front of him.

"Wow..."he finally exclaimed, his mouth agape.

The boss smiled at the young man in front of him, admiring his house.

Archer hadn't seen a building as high and beautiful as all the houses in Herpertine (his hometown) were as short as water tanks arranged horizontally, and were built with mud and bamboo sticks.

"So... you're here for the vacancy right?" The man said, while staring at Archer.

Archer flinched as he was forced out of his world of ecstasy. He gazed at the man who had a perfect body build, and a head that matched his size.

"Yes sir" Archer replied.

The man signalled him to come into the house with him, and Archer quickly obeyed.

The moment Archer stepped foot into the house, his jaw dropped. If the outside was beautiful, the interior was out of earth.

"Take a sit'' The man said, pointing to a couch opposite the one he sat on.

Archer slowly and nervously walked to the sit and moment he sat, he sank. He jumped up immediately, glaring at the couch. He pressed it down like he was giving CPR. The boss smirked in both confusion and amusement.

"Are you okay?" he asked, trying to hold down a surging laughter. Archer turned to him immediately when he realized he was busy embarrassing himself. The chairs in Herpertine were all made of wood, so this was weird to Archer.

He nodded abruptly, standing still.

"Sit" the man said, noticing Archer's uneasiness.

"No sir, I can stand" Archer replied ignorantly.

The boss shook his head in surprise. He found the young man to be an interesting case.
