Chapter 5

July 30, 2021 West Virginia

Tory had switched off her phone after her call with Robert Moore and had withdrawn all the money that was in her account with her credit card and had also gone out of Newyork with her sister they had been lodging in motels that did not require ID's and she had been searching for a job but hadn't found any, Alexa on the other hand had not been able to stay awake for more than two hours per day during the first week of them leaving but now she was able to stay awake for up to five hours, but Tory was still scared as she had not been able to pick up Alexa's drug before they fled and had been more afraid that they could track them easily if they went to any hospitals.

Finally after two weeks they were at West Virginia, their luggage wasn't much as Tory only had what she had taken from the hospital while she had bought Alexa some clotgea on the way, other than that they had nothing. They were at a city called Towering Pines, the journey had been a tedious one even for Tory herself but finally they were here, West Virginia seemed to be a far enough place for she and her sister away from the clutches of their parents and besides the place was beautiful, all they had to do was find a place to lodge in until she found a job and was able to find a living space for she and Alexa but until then they had to manage, thank heavens that she had been working at a well paying company, the seed of her hard work was finally paying off.

Finally she was able to hail a taxi as there was no phone to call one, " Please can you take us to a good hotel around here" she told the driver " OK we have a lot here at Towering Pines " he said then he started driving, on the way he passed by a very beautiful hotel, as she was about to ask why the driver wasn't stopping there, alea spoke up for the first time in a long time, " Sir. can you please take us to that compound we just passed by its very beautiful and I would like to take a closer look at the place" " that hotel has been shut down for four years now as the owner decided that he wanted to use it as a living space for his family" the driver responded, "Oh don't worry then, take us to any hotel" Tory said then turned to Alexa and said,"don't worry we would check it out later after we've settled down in the hotel he's taking us to, okay?" "okay".

The hotel the cab driver took them to was not as beautiful as the one they saw on their way but it was okay and it looked more like an inn than an hotel but luckily for them it didn't require any ID as she didn't know how she would have explained their situation if she had been asked and also they could pay in cash, the room they were given was also comfy. Tory decided to rest for the day but she would begin job hunting the next day.

The next morning, Alexa was still sleeping while Tory who was already awake was thinking about how she was going to search for jobs to interview at and how she was going to watch Alexa at the same time because they were at a place where they didn't know anyone, and also Alexa couldn't remember anything or anyone,even herself, so automatically she couldn't trust anyone with her. But there was no way she could Job hunt and watch after her sister. she also thought about how she was going to get her sister admitted or at least get drugs for her, the money they had was limited and there was no way she was going to interview at corporate jobs because those would require credentials and information's about her, which she was not willing to give away at any moment so that she could protect her sister, she also decided to take her sister with her whether she was offered a job or not.
