Medical papers

Mira picked them up and read through them. They were medical papers talking about her hypertension. Mira picked them up and read through them.

" Ahhm so you have hypertension," Mira said. "Yes I actually hadn't told anyone but I thought about it and decided to tell you so that you can know." Eva said. "hmm.okay."

"Is there any other medication you are taking?" Mira asked.

Eva looked at her daughter and realized that she already knew something.

Actually she suspected that these two daughters of hers knew about her medicine but she had ignored her thoughts.

After some thoughtful thinking she decided to speak out. She didnt bother telling her husband whom she didn't trust and already they were not on good terms.

She just lived with him for the sake of the marriage.

She had decided to talk about her high blood pressure but she realized she couldn't hide her drug addiction.

Ehhh.. she started it's just that am really stressed my dear as you know your dad..".mom stop," Mira said.

She was tired of her parents blaming each other. They were both alcoholics but they blamed each other for their mistakes.

"Mom just answer the question okay?" Mira said. "Ahh ahmm ok" said Eva as she looked down.

Actually I have been taking some drugs just to feel better, you know am stressed.

Mira looked at her mother and simply nodded, "but mom you are drinking and doing drugs which is not good for your health." Mira said. She didn't bother beating around the bush. Eva looked at her daughter in shock.

She didn't think she would be this straightforward.

She felt embarrassed. "okay I will stop okay? Just don't tell your sisters," she added as she stood up with the papers in her hands and walked out of the room. Mira sighed and laid back on the bed.

Mira blinked and realized that her thoughts had wandered away. She could still hear aunt Anna talking endlessly.

"Hmmm...and she will be arriving in the evening so you have to go and spend the night with her." she said.

"You will go with Paula." she added. Hmm Mira nodded her head. Paula is Mira's niece though she is five years older than her and the duo has been studying in the same schools but at some point Paula didn't do well in her highschool and she had to repeat highschool twice so Mira caught up with her.

Paula had started school at an old age though she was a smart child.

Presently both Paula and Mira were in a medical school Paula studying nursing and Mira doing midwifery.

They both had just were left with one last semester to finish their studies.

"Hhh.. okay I'll go and prepare a few stuff to take with me." Mira said as she stood up and walked towards the door. Up in their bedroom Mira told Paula everything.

"Wait!... do they already know." Paula asked shocked. Mira knew what she meant. "

Hmm I don't know but seems like they don't know that she is doing drugs though am sure they will soon know." Mira said.

"Huh" Paula snorted and they will start laughing. "Yeah they can laugh, that's all they can do." Mira said.

She was sad but there was nothing she could do about. It's not like she would stop them from knowing right?

It was common to gossip about children's parents here in the orphanage and using their parents flaws against the children especially by aunt Anna.

It was her expertise to tell off children using their parents mistakes.

Mira and Paula actually knew about each other's family and they usually shared stuff about each other

At 9pm they had reached the rented small house where Mira's mom was. "Ohh you are here," Eva came and hugged them when she opened the door after hearing a knock at the door.

She didn't look sick at all though she had lost a lot of weight. The rest of the evening was spent with her talking about all that she had left in the country side.

Paula left after dinner and Mira retired for the night after making sure her mom was asleep.

The rest of the days went by in the same manner of Mira waking up early and making breakfast for her mom, and doing all the chores. Her young brother Chris would at times come and spend the day.

Other cousins from the orphanage would also come and keep Eva company. Some of the other children from the orphanage would also come to see her and Mira would sometimes go back to the orphanage when Paula came to stay over.
