The final meeting for tonight has just ended and Zero had finally gotten together with Naoto, Kallen, and, as Lelouch had previously suspected, their mother.

She was unfortunately in one of the warehouses of these night's targeted drug supplier.

'And worse, it seems that she is one of the victims of the drug. Hmmm...' Lelouch thought as he did a quick observation of Mrs. Kozuki who is still having delusions right now.

It was only because Kallen was holding her hands so she couldn't be moving around aimlessly.

The complexion of Naoto still had not changed from earlier and in fact, it had even gotten worse because he is one of those who are a bit more knowledgeable about this drug.

After all, he has been living in the slums area for quite some time now, and there are quite a few addicts there which he observes from time to time whenever he sees them and is quite idle.

Kallen at this time had a very anxious look as she felt like her mother's condition might be very bad because her brother's complexion is truly heavy right now.

The expression on Naoto's face looks like he is truly suffering or very angry.

"Zero, this is the personal thing I said to you earlier." Kallen anxiously said as Mrs. Kozuki tried to free herself but Kallen countered it by hugging her instead of just holding her hands.

"Hmmm... I know her. I investigated all the members of our organization. It's just... I did not expect that your mother would be a victim of Refrain." Zero said with real pity as he does truly feel sad for Kallen right now.

Kallen was about to speak again but Naoto suddenly dropped down to the floor, doing a dogeza towards Zero.

"Zero! Please! Can you help our mother? I can already guess her condition, it's bad." Naoto said loudly with some sobs before lifting his face which showed a crying expression to look directly at Zero. "I will do anything! Just help us, please!"

This sudden action stunned Lelouch but Kallen was not only stunned but she was also horrified because she quickly realized what Naoto means.

With a very pale complexion, Kallen weakly did a dogeza too to plea for help towards Zero.

"Please, I will do everything too." Kallen said weakly before she started crying too.

"Okay, stand up, don't bother with this, I will try to help you so don't worry." Zero waved his hand at the two which they quickly followed as their mother is about to wander around again without anyone holding her.

"Thank you, Zero! I will definitely do what I said!" Kallen said loudly with Naoto nodding his head in agreement.

"Okay. First off, let's do a health scan of Mrs. Kozuki." Zero said directly and then took a small device from a suitcase that he was always carrying along whenever they have an operation. "Don't ask where, because it's this thing. And also... Remember to not tell anyone about anything, okay?"

As soon as he finished talking he directly used the device that he took out which let out a green light that targeted Mrs. Kozuki.

The two were shocked by that as when they heard about health scanning, they thought that they would need to go to a luxurious hospital first.

But they quickly sported their faces because they should worry about their mother first.

"I promise to keep everything a secret! Don't worry!" Naoto said as an added insurance with Kallen nodding in agreement.

Zero acknowledged that with a nod before facing the two again.

"Alright, let's talk about something first, this might take a while, I am doing a full body scan after all." Zero said while the device was put into a table earlier before the scan. "So, do the two of you know when your mother started taking Refrain?"

'Sigh... Just right, I can finally try this health scanner for real. Mom really gave me so many things, I didn't think that one would be useful now.' Lelouch thought inwardly.

"I didn't know that mother is using Refrain before, I only got to know it now." Naoto said with a guilty tone and look, he felt like it is because he neglected his mother and she became too depressed or maybe because she is worrying too much about himself, after all, it was already a well-known fact that he is a rebel.

"I... sigh..." Kallen said with a sigh. "I have just gotten to know it earlier today. I didn't see mom when I got back home so I went to her room to look for her and discovered some empty Refrain containers and used syringes.

I was planning to talk about it with my brother after our raid but as you can see."

While Kallen was explaining, Zero had taken out his laptop.

"Okay... I checked the information we got from our raid earlier. The place where you discovered your mother is kind of like a test site for those drug suppliers to test new drugs.

Everyone in there is addicted to Refrain but had no money to buy more, so these addicts volunteered for testing the new thing because it's free.

But the new version of Refrain is too strong.

Your mother might have thought it was the same thing so she might have used the same amount she usually takes, directly." Zero said quickly after Kallen had finished talking.

Both brother and sister paled more than ever, they both felt very weak right now while Kallen used all of her strength to hug her mother as if she might lose her suddenly.

Then the scanning finally ended, it only took a few moments for Lelouch to quickly check the result of the scan.

"This is bad," Zero said directly without any plans of dilly-dallying or downplaying the matter because it truly is serious. "Your mother's brain had been damaged by overdosing in Refrain. And based on the result, she had not been taking care of herself properly for quite a while now and she had also been using Refrain for quite some time too."
