Chapter #6 Browns vs Eagles!

As the sun rose over Cleveland on a cool August morning, an electricity hung in the air. Everyone from kids to grandparents was excited to see the new look Browns take the field.

Among the excited fans were 11-year old Tommy Hart and his dad Jim. "I can't wait to see Brady and the offense in action," Tommy said eagerly as they tailgated.

Across town, Dwight Clark was addressing the team one last time before their inaugural game. "Men, this city has waited so long for a winner. Today, show them what this team is all about - toughness, brotherhood, and relentless will to victory!"

The players roared in approval of their GM's words. Beside him, Marty Schottenheimer patted Dwight on the back. "They're locked in chief. Time to show the league what Marty Ball is all about."

As the stadium gates opened, a sea of fansdecked in orange and brown poured in. By kickoff, over 70,000 crammed the shiny new Browns Stadium. "Just listen to this place erupt!" Hall of Fame announcer Joe Buck said excitedly.

The electric atmosphere shook the earth as the Browns stormed from the tunnel. "These fans have been starving for a winner for decades," Buck continued. "Today may mark the start of something special."

On defense, the Browns swarm swarmed the Eagles ballcarriers ferociously. After forcing a 3-and-out, Urlacher sacked Donovan McNabb on the ensuing drive. "Look at this defense fly to the ball!" Buck exclaimed.

When the Browns defense forced that early stop, the crowd roared with approval. Jim pumped his fist and yelled "That's what I'm talking about!"

Beside them, Mallory Thompson was on her feet, cheering excitedly for her favorite team. "Go get 'em Urlacher!" she shouted enthusiastically.

The offense clicked efficiently behind Brady. A 20-yard strike to Coles got them rolling. Waters and Jackson then powered the run game downfield methodically. A Harris touchdown catch pushed Cleveland's lead to 10-0.

Up in the stands, excitement surrounded Jim and Tommy. "This team looks so good already," Jim said smiling. Beside them, 30-year old Mallory Johnson jumped up cheering. "Goooo Browns!"

As halftime approached, the Eagles cut the lead on a field goal just before the break. But in the locker room, Marty kept the Browns upbeat. "Keep pounding fellas. Victory is ours!"

Out of the break, Philadelphia tied it up 10-10. But the Browns D responded, with Urlacher picking off McNabb deep in Eagles territory. Three plays later, Brady hit Orien Harris for a 21-10 lead restored.

Entering the 4th, the Eagles marched again, pulling within 21-17. But the Browns O responded, with Brady conducting a 12-play drive consuming over 5 minutes. Jackson then powered in from 2 yards out to extend the lead to 28-17.

However, with under 3 minutes left, McNabb led an 80-yard drive, cutting it to 28-24 after a TD pass. The huge Philadelphia comeback had the stadium on edge.

Taking over at their own 25 with 1:23 left, the city held its breath as Brady took the field. Hit after hit, he expertly moved them downfield. With 12 seconds left from the Eagles 25, he dropped back. Seeing Coles beat his man deep, Brady lofted a perfect pass into his hands for the scoring strike.

Pandemonium ensued as the Browns took a 35-24 lead and the victory. "And just like that, Brady leads the Browns on a game winning drive!" Buck shouted. "This new look Browns team has certainly impressed in their debut!"

After the final seconds ticked off, the celebration was on. Down on the field, Marty addressed the team ecstatically. "Fellas, this is just the beginning! The city is behind us 100%."

Up in the stands, Jim and Tommy high-fived jubilantly as confetti rained. "We're gonna go all the way this year dad!" Tommy shouted over the roars.

As the fans filed out happy, optimism surrounded Cleveland. The team's thrilling comeback win felt like more than just a preseason game. It felt like the official kickoff to a bright new era of Browns football at long last. Their time for a title had come, and the whole city could feel it.

The media reaction doesn´t wait

ESPN SportsCenter: "The new-look Browns made quite a statement in their preseason opener. Tom Brady looked sharp leading the offense, and this defense under Mike Vrabel is ferocious. Cleveland has the looks of a playoff team."

Akron Beacon Journal: "It wasn't a perfect performance, but the fight this Browns team showed to comeback and win in the final minutes has this city believing again. Marty Schottenheimer has the talent to deliver on his reputation as a winner."

Cleveland Plain Dealer: "After over a decade of futility, could the Browns' championship drought finally be over? GM Dwight Clark has assembled the roster and Dwane has upgraded the coaching, now it's time to see how far this team can go. But fans have to be excited after what they saw today."

Tony Kornheiser on PTI: "I'll admit, I was skeptical of Cleveland's chances this season. But that debut impressed me - Brady looked sharp, they have playmakers all over. Marty will keep them disciplined. Don't be surprised if we're talking Super Bowl come February."

Mike and Mike: "It's only preseason, but the buzz is real in Cleveland now. That crowd was rockin' and this team showed it's here to win now under Schottenheimer. Watch out AFC North - the Browns are back in a big way."
