L: The King's Contingency

Lief watched as Ezra eyed the available menus for over an hour, before finally choosing an item that he was fairly certain the old man had eaten before.

Ezra Rian rather pointedly ignored his observer, and pulled out an old fashioned tablet to access his messages.

Lief eyed the tablet held by the man who's entire body was already mechanical. When he'd asked before, Ezra had claimed the technicians had warned him that embedded communication equipment would potentially interfere with the functions of his artificial nervous system. Apparently even apparel, like the wrist guards that Brendan preferred, was potentially dangerous.

Ezra brightened and announced, "My granddaughter messaged!"

His expression sobered, and became puzzled as he read through whatever the girl had sent him.

"What did she say?" Lief asked, after Ezra set down the tablet and gazed at him blankly.
