Swim

He Zifeng brought back the drinks. He and Chen Kaori finished the box of desserts.

Then he declared, "I'll go change...so we could go for a swim."

He smiled then took his bag as he went into the bedroom.

Chen Kaori was about to say something, but before any sound left her mouth, he had already shut the door. She could only sigh.

She placed her bag on her lap and rummaged through the stuff she had put inside in a hurry. She bit her lower lip as she held onto the item she was looking for.

Not long after, He Zifeng emerged from the room in his dark blue swimming trunks. A towel was hanging over his shoulders.

Chen Kaori deviated her gaze from his body as she blushed.

He Zifeng was just about to be a senior in middle school at that time. Puberty was not yet done with his body. He was only three inches taller than Chen Kaori and his muscles were not developed and toned. However, despite being an adolescent, he did not look lanky and weird. In fact, though his chest did not look sturdy, he had hints of muscle toning at the abdominal area.

"Your turn!" He Zifeng gestured towards the room with his thumb as he smiled.

Chen Kaori grasped onto her bag before dashing into the room and slamming its door shut with her back. She fanned her face with her hand and took deep breaths.

He Zifeng chuckled at her antics. Then his face turned serious as he saw the group of girls, those talking about Chen Kaori, settle their belongings under the table umbrellas by the pool.

He eyed the spot opposite their area and was thankful that it was still unoccupied. He decided to let Chen Kaori stay there later. At least they needed to span the width of the pool or go around it before they could do anything to her. He also planned to be with Chen Kaori as they swim. He was determined to protect her from wicked minds.

As he was contemplating his next action, Chen Kaori's voice rang behind him.

"I'm ready." she declared.

Chen Kaori wore a rust orange-colored, one-piece maillot with ruffled straps, with the bottom area she covered with a colorful sarong.

She stood before him shyly, clutching her hat in front of her chest area. She knew she was lacking in that area and that the swimsuit did not look flattering on her.

He Zifeng knew she was shy being in a swimsuit. He smiled gently at her then held out his hand. "Let's go!"

Chen Kaori had confidence boost as she walked at the area near the pool, holding hands with He Zifeng.

It did not matter if there were women with big bosoms splashing around in the pool with revealing bikinis. He Zifeng did not spare them a glance. He kept looking back at her as if she might get lost when she was clearly walking in tow with him.

Chen Kaori removed her hat and placed it on the table. She sat on a beach chair next to the table and took shade under the umbrella.

He Zifeng sat on the adjacent chair, with only the table separating him from her.

"Uh, shall we go for a swim?" he asked.

Chen Kaori smiled back, but she knew she had to decline. "You can go first. I get tired easily when swimming. I might get cramps before you can fully enjoy swimming."

He Zifeng nodded, "Okay." He quickly eyed the group of girls he was cautious about. Seeing they were still in their area, he walked away from Chen Kaori.

He did not persist in inviting her into the water when she declined because he did not want to push her in doing what he likes. After all, it was his idea to go swimming. She just went with him. It did not mean she likes to swim.

He swiftly went to shower, then he helped himself into the pool.

Chen Kaori subconsciously bit her lower lip as she watched him swim a few laps.
