Fruits

He ordered lunch which they had on the wooden table at the terrace.

The view of the heated pool was amazing. The tiles turned the splashing water blue to the eyes. It looked inviting.

"Oh...almost forgot!" Chen Kaori took out the bento box her mother handed to her before she left the house.

She gently opened the lid and revealed several compartments, each containing a single mochi, each is a gradient of the mochi in the next compartment.

All in all, there were forty pieces. Five colors, one for each row, with columns containing a mochi which gradually lightens in color from the previous one.

"Oh...dessert?" He Zifeng had a wide smile.

He was secretly relieved not ordering dessert. He did not want to eat too much because he wanted to go for a swim later. He was delighted that each of these desserts is bite-sized.

"Hmmn." Chen Kaori nodded with a smile. "But not too sweet...they are made of fresh fruits. My mom made them."

Mrs. Chen is from City O so she was used in making these semi-sweet desserts. She makes ice cream out of fresh fruits, then uses them to stuff the mochi. The bento box was also special as it can keep the temperature of the food as to how it was before it was sealed inside.

He Zifeng had a silly smile as he took a blue mochi and immediately put the whole thing into his mouth. His eyes shone as the flavors burst into his mouth. "Hmmm! Blueberry!" he declared.

Chen Kaori chuckled as she had her sweetest smile.

"Eh...the ball wrapping the blueberry ice cream has another flavor." He Zifeng had slightly furrowed brows, trying to make out what he was tasting.

"Oh...the blue color on the sticky rice flour is from butterfly pea flowers." Chen Kaori said.

"Oh, right, right...that's what I'm tasting!"

He Zifeng suddenly got up.

"Eh, what's wrong?"

He smiled back at her. "This will need fruit drinks. I'll buy some at the bar. Stay here. I will be back."

Chen Kaori helped herself with a reddish mochi. It was watermelon-flavored. Then she noticed that they were served with water and iced tea for lunch. Indeed, the desserts will go well with refreshing fruit-based drinks.

He Zifeng ordered fruit shakes and was waiting for them at the bar. Suddenly, he noticed a penny lying on the ground underneath the next bar stool from where he was sitting.

The area was after the corner of the bar table. When he bent down to pick up the coin, the people on the other bar stools and even the bartender would not see him.

As he was crouched down, he heard women's voices talking.

"That Chen girl is such a b***h! That cutie has only been here during camp yet she managed to hook up with him!"

"Hey, we don't really know if they..."

"Huh! What? It was all innocent? Look at her! Sipping drinks at the balcony of the cabin they reserved for themselves! I will never believe there's nothing fishy going on!"

"Hah! You think they will go for overnight and do it here?"

"Tsk! That Chen girl should be taught a lesson. He Zifeng looked so nice and innocent. We should not let her have her way with him!"

He Zifeng remained in his position until he heard their footsteps walking away.

When he got back on the bar stool where he was sitting, he eyed the girls who were talking bad about Chen Kaori.

The bartender snapped him from his thoughts. "Here you go, Sir!" He pushed the drinks gently towards He Zifeng.

He Zifeng signed the room charge then took each drink with both hands.
