Chapter - 10

After meeting with the group , me and Sam headed towards my house . We had plans to watch Friends today .

After completing our notes and studying for a while , Sam and I were in the kitchen trying to find something to eat . When we could not find any snacks , we were trying to make something so that we could eat while watching . And the ingredients that we had were just some onions and tomatoes . Where did the snacks go ? Am I in another universe ?

" We have nothing . Why do we have nothing ? Why don't we have something ? " I complained . Sam just laughed .

" Dad ? " I asked as I heard the front door open . I went out to the living room . Sam followed too .

" Oh hey Nick " I said as I saw him standing with his shoes on in the living room . " Yo kids . "

" Nick - Shoes . " I said pointing at his feet .

" Who are you ? " asked Nick, turning towards Sam completely ignoring what I just said . " Sam . "

" Ellie's boyfriend ? " asked Nick with amusement clear in his voice .

" No . He is just a friend . " I replied . Nick just smirked .

" Ya right . Anyway , where's Dan ? " Nick asked me . " I don't know . Work ? "

" Mm . By the way , what are you guys doing ? It's a mess in here . " said Nick as he walked towards the kitchen . " Me and Sam were about to watch some series and we wanted to eat something but there's nothing to eat . " I said . "Except these . " I pointed at the vegetables lying on the counter .

" You do know you have snacks inside the cupboard now , don't you ? " said Nick .

"Wait - what ? " I asked .

" Yesterday I was here after dinner and I saw Dan and Mr. Hansler rearrange stuff and I saw them putting the snacks in that cupboard . " Nick pointed to the one in the next room .

I went and checked and there it was . " Why was I not informed ? " I said, looking at Nick now .

" What do I know ? " he said, making a face . " Thanks Nick for informing me where the things are at My house . " I said, emphasizing in the my .

" Jeez . Calm down . They must have forgotten . " laughed Nick . I just rolled my eyes at him .

" Well I'm gonna head out , Have fun kids . Do tell Dan that I was here . " he said going into the living room . I followed him out and so did Sam . They again shook hands .

" Bye . " said Nick . " Also - don't do it on the sofa . " he said laughing and ran outside .

" You'll be dead soon Nick . " I yelled at him . I just stood there flustered and angry at Nick .

" Come on - let's go inside . " said Sam who had turned red in the face .

" Yeah sure . " I said and we headed inside .

We were laughing so hard when dad and Dan entered , my dad even got scared for a moment hearing us . I paused the tv when I saw them and stood up to introduce Sam .

" Hey Dad . This is Sam . " I said and they both shook hands . " It's great to finally meet you Sir, " said Sam . Dan and I just looked at him and we were like - woah .

" No need to call me Sir son . Just Mr. Hansler would be fine . " said Dad patting his back to which Sam nodded his head . " Weren't you the one who bought those for my daughter on her birthday ? " asked Dad pointing at the sunflowers on the table .

" Yes Mr. Hansler . Ellie always talked and still talks about how much she loves sunflowers . " said Sam with a smile .

" That was very nice of you . " Dad said .

" All right . Let's cut this . We can try out another scene tomorrow . " said Dan, shaking Sam's hand . We all just laughed .

" Oh by the way , Nick was here earlier . He was searching for you . " I said as we all sat down on the sofa .

" And why was I not informed that the snacks were in a different place now ? " I asked, turning towards dad .

" There was a note on the counter, " he said . " No there was not . " I said and stood up . I went to the kitchen and there was a note .

" Sorry - I didn't see it earlier . " I said to which my dad just laughed . " It's ok, Ell . " he said as I sat down .

" Dummy . " muttered Dan, making me glare at him .

" So Sam - " dad began . Oh no -

After talking - more like answering questions to my family - dad - for a while , dad went upstairs to change his clothes and so did Dan .

" Sorry about all the questions . I've never had a boy in here except Olly and he being he - does this . " I told Sam .

" Hey don't apologize . He's great . Besides it's finally great to have someone as a father to talk to , you know . " he said .

" What do you mean ? " I asked .

" Oh . Well , my mom is a single mother . My dad passed away when I was very young and I don't remember much of it . Since then , it has always been me and my mom . So it was nice to talk to someone fatherly like that . " he said with a smile on his face .

" I'm sorry about your father . " I said and held his hand . He just squeezed it back .

" Thanks, " he said .

" Well wanna continue ? " I asked him removing my hand immediately, missing his warmth .

" Yeah - sure . "

After finishing an episode or two , his mom called so he left . I was just scrolling through the channels when the bell rang . I opened the door and there was a delivery guy with some pizza .

" Oh thank you but I didn't order these . " I said . The man was just confused .

" Don't worry . I did . " said Dan, coming downstairs quickly to pay for it .

" Thank you . " I smiled and shut the door while Dan went to the living room .

" Dad ? " yelled Dan . " Yes ? " yelled back dad .

" Pizza's here . "

" Coming . "

I sat beside Dan and we agreed to watch a movie . Just then dad came down too and he sat beside Dan in the opposite direction .

" Movies and pizza ? Why not, right ? "
