First Time Training In The Void

AUTHORS NOTE

This is an important note for all readers cause most readers don't read the ones at the bottom.

If you want, you can skip this 'Void' volume and go to the 2nd volume (if it's published). This is cause there won't actually be any story development in this volume and it will only be lots of info dumps and fleshing out the characters. It also helps you understand the relationship between Eris and Ray, whilst also seeing him grow in power without showing it. But, if you're an early reader from when this is ongoing (if I don't drop this in the future) then you will have to wait a long time for the next volume.

A few days later,

"The way you train is quite inefficient, Raymond." The Void had been watching Ray train and saw his method, it was only a bunch of nonsense. It was amazing that Ray progressed as far as he had with that way of training.

"How? Can you show me how to meditate then?" Ray was curious about how the Void would train, he had never seen it actually meditate and just guessed that it didn't even need to.

The Void created a figure that looked similar in stature to Ray and demonstrated how to train properly. The figure wasn't the Void but just a model for Ray to properly study. It was pure black yet somehow maintained a figure that was quite easy to notice and differentiate. As if it had some kind of glow around it.

Ray tried to poke it a few times but his finger would go through it, it felt like he was watching and looking directly at a mirage, an afterimage. But Ray decided to ignore it, of course a powerful being could do things like this. He focused and watched as it trained.

"So that's how you meditate..." Ray immediately copied the figure and did the same movements. He regulated his breathing just as the figure did and focused.

"Yes, that is indeed how you train more efficiently, Raymond." The Void chuckled slightly.

"Why do you keep calling me Raymond instead of my nickname, Ray?" This was a question that plagued him the whole time. Whenever he told others this, they would instantly act friendly and would call him by his nickname, Ray. The Void was the first who didn't try this with him.

"Because it is impolite to do so and I wish to avoid creating connections with others, both constellation and mortal."

"Huh." Ray carried on with his meditation, only pausing occasionally to ask the Void questions.

2 months later,

"Hey, Eris?"

"Yes, Raymond?"

Ray hesitated, "Will I ever be able to go back home?" He had trained nonstop these past few months yet he never progressed far enough, he always asked if he did enough or if he grew strong enough but the Void would say the same thing, ''You are far from it, Raymond.'' 

"I'm sure you will be able to do it, Raymond." The Void encouraged him, Ray was the first child that entered the Void and any others who entered were hostile and dangerous, there were even cases of species being sent there as criminals to be 'executed'. Ray was none of those.

"But... When and if, I leave... Doesn't that mean you'll be all alone?" Ray looked at the Void. Most of the people around him would praise him no matter what he does. Yet the Void spoke truthfully, saying exactly how They saw it. It would be helpful towards his growth in the future and he decided to 'act' as an attached child.

"I have always been alone, Raymond, but that doesn't mean I'm lonely. People can be surrounded by people and they can still feel lonely, or they can be completely alone yet they will never feel lonely." It explained thoroughly to Ray, the Void knew these things and has seen it with most people. It was always the lonely people who were surrounded by people that hurt the most.

"But wouldn't you have no one to talk to, what would you do in your free time?" Ray got up. He'd decided to completely engage in this conversation, it was interesting and he would probably learn things from it.

"I mostly just sleep, the way I get more power is by sleeping."

"Then can I do the same thing? It gets boring just meditating the whole time. I have nothing to do and I don't even need food." Ray looked away. He knew they were that powerful from the training technique that they gave him, he had already ranked up to Count rank whilst he was there, something that would usually take others 6 months to get here. Of course, this could just be his talent at play.

Even though the Void had very dense mana and energies he had never seen before, it was still very surprising for him to get to Count rank this early. The Void brushing this off as if it was nothing shows just how powerful they were.

"I may be able to create a space similar to this home of yours, but I will need you to describe what it looks like exactly." The Void paused before adding, "I will also be able to add a small library containing all my knowledge of the worlds." This was something very rare since the Void has a large amount of knowledge, things not even the Creator would know.

This meant that the Void had began trusting Ray as a... Companion of sorts.

"You can do that?" Ray's face brightened as he jumped up, how interesting. To be able to recreate an entire space just by memories... If he could learn how to do that, then he wouldn't have a need for money. It would save a lot of time and trouble too.

"Yes, do you want to begin now? It might take some time to be completed, Raymond." The Void looked at Ray, his first friend. Ray was the first person who had ever shown 'consideration' for him, though, this was to be expected since Ray is a child. Children are known as pure beings and if they tried, they could master all forms of energy, just like Ray is doing.

The reason Children are seen as pure is because they haven't been exposed to evils, nor have they been exposed to a single energy for too long. Because Ray was exposed to mana as a single form of energy for only 5 years and he only trained using it for 3 months, he could adapt to accommodate the other forms of energy alongside mana and he could become a lot stronger than other constellations.

"Yes! I'm shaking from excitement from being able to see my home again!" Ray was imagining how it would work, thinking about how he could study and replicate the magic performed by the Void. Although, he did get tired of the dark, so he thought of the warmth of his old house. Even if there is no heat or cold in this recreated house, he could still play games, train, or read. And reading was one of his favourite things, just learning of all the different poisons in this world were interesting. It really helped for his future too.

"Then we shall begin."
