It’s not that Simple

SCOTT POV

"Diana don't know anything", I whispered as I hit the cold shower. I didn't expected to encounter a vampire when I followed her. This city has been peaceful and distant from vampires for months.

I groaned under the cold water dripping on my skin as it removed the heaviness I feel inside my body.

After licking Diana in my wolf form, I instantly felt the heat from my core craving for her more and more.

When I saw her walking in the dark earlier at the parking lot wearing her white coat, I can't deny the feeling of melancholy my heart bears. I sighed deeply in my inability to handle my intrusive thoughts of grief.

I understand that it's not right to blame every doctor for the sin of one. I don't particularly hate them. What I hate the most is myself for being trapped in the past for so long with a grudge so deep that with every doctor I see, I remember the pain of loss and everything that was taken from me.

How could I accept my destiny and yearn for someone I couldn't get so easily?

When she hummed my mother's lullabye, my chaotic soul suddenly lulled at peace. It felt like my mother hushing all my troubles away.

"Does she think of me too?", completely hoping Diana does because there's no second I don't think of her.

I closed my eyes as I rested my palms on the wall while the cold water splash down at the back of my head.

Will Diana be my salvation?

I turned the water off and dried my body. I opened the door and saw Lucas laying comfortably on my bed with his hands behind his head.

"What have you got?", I asked as I put some clothes on.

"The pack had the entire hospital vicinity under surveillance, no vampire was found. We covered at least 500 meter radius. So far, so good…. So…. what happened?", grinning ear to ear like he can sense the air.

"I already told you", I furrowed my brows dried my hair infront of the mirror. I know where this is going.

"Alpha, your heat can be sensed from the 30th floor down to the ground floor. Don't skip that part.", laying on his side with his hand on his head, twinkling his eyes as he look forward to what I'll say.

I kept mum and continued drying my hair.

"Have you been following her?", he sat upright hugging a pillow.

"No", I lied. I felt warmth on my face as Diana's face suddenly appeared on my mind.

"Hmm… What did she eat for lunch today?", Lucas asked.

"I think it was fish, and salad", I combed my hair and smirked at how easy the question was.

"Who was she with? ", he continued while dangling his one foot on the bed.

"The vampire I told you about", I sighed in disgust. I remember her calling him Calvin, who seems like a doctor too. How ironic to find a naturally born killer turn to a life saver.

"Where does she live?", Lucas kept on asking silly questions that are so easy to answer.

"Villa Estates, just after a couple of villages from here", I opened my personal refrigerator and took two cans of beer, throwing one to Lucas.

"What time does she goes to work?", Lucas caught it and opened the beer drinking it in one go.

"She leaves home at about 6am", I know because I see her on the road at times. I sat on my recliner chair opening my beer.

"…. And what time does she sleep?" Lucas crushed the can smiling at me.

"Her lights are out at 10pm", Furrowing my brows then rolled my eyes realizing I've been played. I bit my lower lip and rested my head back.

"Ha! I knew it! Hahaha", Lucas laughed so hard as he threw a pillow on me. I caught it with one hand and threw it back at him.

"So with all the stalking and shit, why haven't you talked to her?", he asked.

"It's not that simple", I said as I closed my eyes.

"What's holding you back? Your parents? Man, your parents are dead for so long. You should get a life. One way or the other, you will encounter doctors. It's just that, you imprinted to one", Lucas said as he stood up and took another can of beer.

I kept my eyes closed, and tapped the arm rest with my fingers.

"There so many things we didn't understand about the death of your parents. If only we could find Kristia, you could have the closure you've been waiting for so long. Maybe then, you could move on", Lucas added opening the beer as he went back to my bed.

I placed my can of cold beer on my face.

"Kristia has been long gone. Who knows she might be dead already", my team never stopped looking for her, because even I cannot be at peace not knowing the whole truth.

"So what are you going to do, Scott? Will you take the high road of moving on? The life of a loved one is irreplaceable. But death is something we will continue to experience. Don't let that grief eat you up from the inside, one day you'll wake up all rotten from that grief.", Lucas said as he chug on the beer and laid down.

This punk is already making a good point with only two cans of beer. Only I can work and unravel my unresolved conflicts.

"Let's say I would be able to win over my self.. what will I say to her when I see her? If she asked me why did I left her??", I stared at Lucas, seeking after what I would do when I finally gained the courage to face her.

"We're wolves, Scott. Our instinct leads our intuitions. Follow your heart, and everything else will come after", Lucas said as he pressed his palms on his eyes.

"Why would I believe a playboy, unmated wolf like you?", I scoffed and smiled staring at my beer on my hand.

"Because you know, I make sense.", Lucas yawned and as he was about to slumber.
