All in the Past

"Is it time already, Calvin?", Diana asked as she stared on the veins at the back of her hand.

"It actually is", sipping on his cup of coffee with his legs crossed.

Diana gets her blood drawn every three months for blood donation. Calvin takes charge of the blood samples, as he personally perform blood extraction. Ever since her legal age, her mother encouraged her to donate blood religiously which eventually became a routine to her.

"I thought so. The only times that I see you out of the lab is when you'll get my blood", Diana replied as she eats her salad.

"You'll get to see more of me soon. I've been promoted to Chief of the Pathology department", Calvin lifted his cup of coffee to Diana, with a smile showing his dimples, asking for a toast.

"Finally! You deserve it", she smiled as she lifted her glass to clink with his.

"Congratulations on being a board member too, perhaps the first thing you do is kick Murphy out", Calvin glanced to the side like he sensed something off.

"Thanks… hmm.. What is it? ", Diana asked as looked towards the direction Calvin was focusing.

"Nothing, it just smells like there's a dog in here", Calvin said as his eyes darkened.

Scott had a meeting with his executives to give him an update on the business operations during his absence.

SD Enterprises is subdivided into two businesses - SD Weaponry and Machinery with his siblings Sebastian and Reina as Chief Operating Officers respectively. Damon, the carefree son, never had interests in the company. Hence, he was still obliged to take part in it.

When Stanley Devlin fell ill, Scott took over in handling the company being the Alpha in the family. He was hesistant at first, since he is not a real son of the Devlins. However, it was a family decision to make him the CEO.

The company mainly focused on making weapons of any sort against all beings, supernatural or not, that supplies the whole country. Aside from that, they fabricate machineries and prototypes which Alva Woodsworth has been eyeing on, particularly a medical-grade prototype for drug production purposes.

Knowing Scott casted out Christina, this came to a decision to limit but not merely remove the Rivers as a major business partner. Regardless that the Rivers are the main suppliers of aluminum and steel for SD Enterprises, Scott is forced to get a new major supplier.

The luncheon meeting took place in Reina's favorite fancy restaurant nearby their office building. They occupied the VIP room for group meetings. As soon as the meeting's adjourned, everyone else went back to the office.

On his way out, Scott noticed Diana in the corner of the restaurant. How could he ignore such beauty? In fact, he have memorized her scent already.

Scott hid behind a room divider and peeked again. But this time, with furrowed brows and darkened eyes.

She's smiling sweetly.. to a guy. A smile that should be meant only for him. His eyes followed through the two, and clenched his jaw whilst the guy held Diana on her back.

'What are you doing with a vampire, Luna?', he thought as he couldn't take his eyes off on Calvin.

DIANA POV | 7pm

"And we're done", Calvin pulled out the needle and placed an adhesive bandage on my arm.

"Thanks.", I said as I pressed on my vein and gave him a sleepy smile.

"You should rest, and don't drive. I'll take you home", Calvin cleaned up and prepared my bag of blood for storage.

"I can drive, Calvin. it's not like my first time", I put my coat back on as I started to shiver. Suddenly, a memory flashed in my mind. After the big bad wolf attack when I was little, my mother monitored me for a time by drawing my blood.

'It did really happened, what is she keeping from me?', I furrowed my eyes as I go deep in my thoughts.

"Sure, rest for a while. I'll just finish up", Calvin took my blood bag and handed it over to his assistant as he document on my record.

"You can tell me, Diana. You don't need to keep it all up", Calvin said as he continued writing. He must've noticed I'm thinking hard.

"There's just so many things in my head right now", Sitting up straight as I put my palms on my face.

"Things that happened from the island?", Calvin put down the pen and compiled my records back in the drawer.

"How did you know about the island?", I looked at him as I widen my eyes.

"Your mother told me. The fortune telling, and you being attacked in the island…", he removed his white coat and placed it on the chair as he took his satchel ready to go.

I never told my mother that I went to the island. I folded my lips in a tight line and sighed.

"Those are all in the past now. I'll get over it, Cal. I just need time", shrugging it off given that Calvin talks to my mother. I don't want her to know that I'm starting to have doubts.

"Just so you know Diana. You got me.", he smiled showing his dimples as he helped me stand up.

I walked with Calvin out going to the elevator. As the door opened, we saw Dr. Murphy making out with a woman wearing a patient's gown and a tag.

The woman was startled and ran out. We pretended we didn't see anything and just went inside the elevator.

"Why isn't it the two cold-blooded doctors of DW Medical Hospital..", Dr. Murphy said as he wipe his lips. "Dr. Pearce, I don't know why do you keep hanging out with Dr. Woodsworth. It might ruin your reputation", he added.

Calvin and I are collectively known as "the pair of cold-blooded doctors" mainly because we don't usually smile with colleagues, and we don't hang out with other people. We are straight-forward and strict when it comes to work.

I noticed Calvin clenched his fist. I held it and turned my head side to side telling him don't get bothered by Murphy.

"You see, doctors should build their own names and not..", before he could finish, he gasped as Calvin come up close to him, towering the old man with his fist on the wall.

"Dr. Murphy, I'd rather keep close with empowered women than with disgusting doctors who pig out with their patients. We all know that Diana is one hell of a doctor who could perform her duties even in the dark. Let this be my last warning. Never mention her name in that dirty mouth of yours.", The elevator opened and we both went out.

"You didn't have to do that", smiling at him as we towards the back side of the hospital. His car is parked there because it's nearer from the lab.

"Nah.. It felt like I needed to do it", he said as he check his pockets. "Oops, I forgot my keys in the lab. Can you wait for me here?".

"Sure, go ahead. I'll wait for you in the parking lot", as I wave my hand for him to rush up.

"I'll be quick", Calvin rushed to the elevator as I stood alone in the exit door with the lights flickering.
