Side story 2: Three prince fails

Xavier was not the most patient person in the world. She had just been arrested for assaulting the princess, and instead of a cell was being ushered into the main audience chambers of the king and queen instead. It surprised her that she hadn't started fighting her way out yet, but alas the day was young.

"What did you say your name was?" The king asked.

"Xavier." There were several armored guys behind the young knight, who decide that slugging it out wasn't the best of ideas.

"Sir Xavier…" The queen spoke calmly with a soft simple voice. Despite her obvious signs of aging, she was a very fetching woman. The king wasn't the worst male the knight had seen, blond hair clear blue eyes, a nice stiff jawline.

"I have no last name." There were probably better ways to say that. Her highness didn't mind but the clanking and rattling behind Xavier indicated that there was dissent in the knight's action.

"I see if that's the case than do you have any ties to the kingdom?" A strange question, but royals and high nobles were notorious for executing bloodlines.

"None I've come from the Shattered Cracked Sands." The room stilled in response.

"Isn't that on another continent? Not to mention one of the harshest places in the world." There was a series of mutters in the background.

"I heard giant animals rule the land."

"That place hasn't had rain in two decades, how do you even live there."

"The sand shift so much, that it could swallow cities."

"Yea, some say the old cities have zombies."

"Nine tenths of the life there will try to eat you."

"The other tenth just wants to kill you…"

"I took a feather from a ruby rune hawk and rode it hear."

More murmurs surfaced, even the queen unintentionally said "My word" knowing that the hawks stood in the ballpark of fifty to seventy feet.

"Well than how about-" The king began but before he could say more four others burst into the audience chamber.

"There's the Meaney head who hit me!" Point while one looked pitiful, was Princess Harmony. Uncloaked in an adorable bow laden dress that accentuated her cuteness. Pairing exceptionally well with her gold and lilac features, clearly chosen for maximum lethality against adults.

Highly effect against the three largest siscons in kingdom as well. First, second and third princes of Clare De Lune.

"How dare you hurt sister." The youngest was the most passionate probably due to his fire magic nature. Despite being two years younger than the fourteen-year-old Xavier, he was the same height. Cursing her genetics and poor upbringing It wasn't hard to flip the kid and than twist and throw him back in the direction he came from.

Even if his fist glowed with explosive magic, his pathetic lunge made it simple to snatch the wrist.

"Worry not brother I will assist you!" Out of the corner of her eye Xavier saw the king stand to join the fray, before a single death stare from the queen cowed her husband and any armed man in the room. Unfortunately blinded by righteous cuteness they didn't notice their mother's gaze.

"You can do it second brother!" Harmony cheered her brother on, the vile pink eyed night must be punished.

He was the broadest most stout of the whole family yet wielded the softest gentles restraint with thin filaments of water and ice. With wavy complicated hand gestures jets of water burst out encircling the short knight. Stepping towards the second prince instead of away, meant that none of the back net touched her, drastically reducing the effectiveness. Taking her small coin pouch out of her pocket, she launched at his head, toppling him like a collapsing building, causing the water to fall apart.

"Ill want those coins back to by the way" Xavier said off handedly mourning the loss of her coins. The first prince was the oldest yet most devoted. His calmness allowed him to think of even more insane ways to support his sister.

"If you must pay it will be done in blood, there can be no other recompense. Together now, we of the Princess Harmony Defense fan club can not allow this to go unanswered!"

What is fan club? This was Xavier's first thought; however, it was a small thing really. The first prince had powerful magic in his own right, a stick figure with earth shattering powers. All of which required natural earth so the youngest set off explosive runes to tear up the foundation, the second child bought time with webs of ice snow and water.

Xavier drew herself up. She knew a few hand and foot ways to kick someone to the ground. There was no way that they would have allowed her to bring any weapons with her to meet the ruler of their nation.

Ignoring the biting cold that came with passing through the water and ice, it took her almost no time to close the distance surprised the kid detonated one of his own mines prematurely. There was pain and burns but her armor did its job. Shunting magic into light recovery, she didn't hesitate to grab the third prince and throw him into the second. Both fell crashing, the delicate frost once more fading into nothing as the two struggled to recover their breath.

Earth exploded and surged in the knight's general direction. With little time to think, she simply reacted. Channeling what magic power she had, she placed it in her fist, driving it into the earthen mound mobbing her. For a moment nothing happened before the compressed magic detonated. With it shattered she snaped it apart like she was braking bricks barehanded. It took her a short scant time to overwhelm the earth and slammed her fist hard into his gut. He folded like it was nothing.

Realizing that her three bothers had fallen and there wasn't anyone to save her, Harmony cowered as the menacing short figure of the ash gray knight towered over her.

"If you have a problem solve it with your own strength." Lightly rapping the girl on the head, smirking at the surprised girl.

"Your own strength is always available to you and if it fails, you know you did all you could right. So, if you got a problem with me or something I did…we can talk, or I can put more lumps on you or something like that." With nothing more to say she gently held her hands out, given the spears pointed into her back no sudden movements seemed ideal.

"For hitting my daughter, you will be hung disembowel and…" The king couldn't take it any more and surged to his feet.

"Dear…"

Every human in the room felt the icy wave of doom as the queen mother once again remind everyone who had the true power in the relationship.

"Sir Xavier, I think you would do nicely at helping us control that little hellion, glaring at the four men in her family. Smiling softly the queens' words and expressions didn't match.

"No one else seems to be able to discipline her seriously, I think you would be a nice fit."

"Fit I don't think-" The spears pressed a bit harder as the queen uttered

"You don't have a say in the matter, you will be hired as her bodyguard, or you will not see the light of day again." Xavier decided to go along, once there were no spears it wasn't like she could run away.

"Come on than let me show you to where you will be staying, we discuss your appointment as Princess Harmony's personal guard on the way."

Falling in line with the queen seemed prudent, Xavier didn't have a ton of experience with job negotiations, she had negotiated pay before, but it was all single shot jobs, normally to violence someone or something.

Mabey this will be more peaceful than she thought it could be. Xavier considered as she spoke about the things she wanted to the queen. After all its not like some brat can be that much trouble.
