**[Evaluation:** This White Bone Spirit, bad review.]**
In Lu Li's vision, black qi began to emanate from the pile of bones, reassembling them. The skull he had pierced started to reattach, the fragments flying back into place, and the black qi continued to expel Lu Li's shadow magic from within.
Seeing this, Lu Li walked to the doorway, glanced at the darkening sky outside, and thrust his spear into the skull, flicking it into the air. As it soared, Lu Li kicked it forcefully, sending the white skull flying through the sky, disappearing into the darkening village. The pile of bones trembled but did not reassemble.
Lu Li turned his attention to the inner room, where Zhou Chu was pounding his massive fists into the yellow-faced man. With each punch, the black qi on the man's body dissipated, unable to regenerate, eventually leaving a cold, bloody corpse.
Observing this phenomenon, Zhou Chu's second ability, Fearless Spirit, also manifested:
**[Fearless Spirit:** You have abundant qi and blood and are naturally courageous. Your strength can reach the source, rendering curses and other abilities ineffective against you.]**
It seemed that even without Lu Li, Zhou Chu could slay gods and ghosts, as their tricks were useless against him. Zhou Chu's formidable physical attributes and martial skills could thoroughly destroy these specters.
Zhou Chu grabbed the bloody body of the yellow-faced man, opened the back door, and tossed it out. The little girl stood silently in the corner, watching.
After disposing of the body, Zhou Chu returned, patting the girl's head with his bloody hand and smiling warmly. He walked towards Lu Li, pointed at the trembling pile of bones, and laughed heartily, "Yingzhi, impressive skills! I admire you!"
"Not at all," Lu Li knew Zhou Chu had taken longer than him simply to vent his anger. If Zhou Chu had gone all out, he could have destroyed the yellow-faced man with a single punch.
Seeing the cracked table and the filth on it, Zhou Chu washed the tea cups and kettle in the courtyard, filled the kettle with water, and set it on the stove. Finding some tea leaves, he looked at the girl still leaning against the wall and smiled, "Little one, cook the food, and call me when the water boils."
The girl, stained with her father's black-red blood, nodded quietly, her face marked with a red streak. Zhou Chu returned to the main hall and smiled at Lu Li, "Yingzhi, just wait a bit. I caught some game; we'll eat well soon!"
Soon, the water boiled. The little girl brought the hot kettle, and Zhou Chu took it, signaling her to continue preparing the game. He then made tea for himself and Lu Li, and they drank together.
Zhou Chu seemed unfazed by the recent events, drinking tea and having the girl cook for him. A while later, the girl served the food, some of which was burnt, and some overly salted, making it barely edible. Yet, Zhou Chu and Lu Li finished the meal without troubling her.
The girl sat by her mother's bones, silent, guarding her father's corpse in the back courtyard, waiting for the two intruders to leave. Life had to go on.
After their meal, Zhou Chu and Lu Li talked for a while before finding rooms to sleep in. Outside, bumping noises could be heard. The girl quietly opened the door, allowing the white bone woman's skull to roll in.
With a series of bone clattering sounds, the white bone woman reassembled herself and restored her human appearance. She wept silently, buried her husband's body, and tidied the mess in the main hall before curling up with her daughter.
At dawn, Lu Li and Zhou Chu awoke to find the girl and the white bone woman in a corner, the girl's corpse starting to rot. After a brief wash, Zhou Chu ignored the horse, which had half its body hollowed out, and called Lu Li to leave.
The horse whinnied weakly, but Zhou Chu paid no attention. The villagers, heads down, started their work, avoiding eye contact with the two men. They had heard the noise from the house last night and were now even more terrified.
The two walked along a country path to a main road, where people with carts and baskets hurried past. Spotting Zhou Chu, they quickened their pace, avoiding him like the plague.
The number of people increased as they approached the city walls, which bore the characters "Yangxian."
Seeing Zhou Chu, passersby either avoided him or looked down, afraid to meet his gaze. No wonder Zhou Chu appreciated Lu Li's company; he treated him normally, considering him a friend.
"Yingzhi, we didn't eat well last night. Let me treat you to something good today!" Zhou Chu led Lu Li to a restaurant. With a bang on the table, most diners quickly left, and the waiter approached nervously.
