Chapter 13

In the early morning Chad stood in an alleyway gritting his teeth in frustration Chad activated his level 2 green spore ability. He didn't anymore care about the potential consequences of doing this. All he now cared about was releasing his pent-up anger onto the city of Katubuka.

Just a moment ago he had once more stared death in the eyes as that madman bartender had tried to shoot him dead. Though he was strong now, he knew that he couldn't survive 7.62 x 39mm rounds from an AK-47.

Since he had already gone onto this path of wanting power he had now decided that the one thing he needed most was to get strong enough to withstand bullets of any kind. And to do that he needed more bodies.

But there was also a temporary solution to this problem as well. After spreading the spores around the alleyway he then went into his system store. From there he looked for the most expensive rogue armor that was available to him.

Then quickly his vision landed on something called the.

[Ancient shadow armor.]

[560 souls]

Seeing that he could get a whole set of armor for that price and that he had over one thousand souls he didn't hesitate and bought the armor. Then like magic, the black suit of smooth leather armour appeared on the ground in front of him.

Seeing this Chad then quickly ran past the screaming civilians on the street who were running from the zombies. Then he broke into some random house that seemed unoccupied and went to take a shower.

After taking a shower he stole the food from the fridge tossed his old suit of shitty armor into the trash and put on his new armor.

Putting on the skin-tight suit of armour Chad felt like some sort of a superhero. The armor felt extremely light also his skin could easily breathe through it meaning he would not need to worry about the heat so much anymore. Somehow still the leather felt extremely strong like even with a knife a person would most likely have a hard time of cutting through it. Moving around he also noticed that his black leather boots seemed to have extremely great impact resistance. Each step was extremely silent and caused no strain on his joints, he felt like he was walking on marshmallows.

And lastly looking himself in the mirror he actually looked pretty sexy he would say. Although wearing this and then putting the hood on his head during the daytime would stand out quite a lot. But right now that was not something he really cared about as he would be staying hidden anyway for most of his journey to the South anyway.

Looking out the one-story houses window he could see that the streets were clear of all people as the screaming and yelling had moved further into the distance somewhere.

With nothing else left to do here, he then decided to head back into stealth and start making his way towards his stolen car.

Making his way to the northern outskirts of town where he had left his car at Chad noticed a massive kilometres-long traffic jam on the roads leading in and out of town. Frowning at the sight he then noticed that from the north a massive horde of zombies was heading straight towards the town as they cut down people along the way.

Huge masses of people had seemingly gotten out of their vehicles and we're now running like mad towards the town. At the same time, there was a growing number of people in town who were trying to run away from the town. Like so the masses of people collided with one another and created a wild stampede where many were crushed under the feet of the panicking masses.

Looking at the scene Chad just shook his head knowing that now he would need to find another way of transportation out of the city. Climbing on the roof of some tall house he could see the port being flooded by people trying to get out of town the same seemed to be happening in the airports direction also. That then left only one other option, the trains at the rail yard.

There the way still seemed clear as the masses of people hadn't yet spread there. Using his sprint ability Chad was like some sort of a superhero then he started jumping from roof to roof toward the train station until after 30 seconds the ability ended. Then he just went back down to the street level and started to run through the chaotic streets.

Coming to a three-way junction of the road, Chad could see the long walk that went all the way around the rail yard on the other side of the road.

" Oh shit! " Chad mumbles to himself as he notices a large built-up of people at the wall. All of them seemed to be desperately trying to find a way over the wall that had a thin line of barbed wire on it.

Looking at a group of people at the wall, he noticed that they had managed to get a carpet onto the barbed wire wall. Running to them Chad saw one man climb onto the wall from where he started to help a young woman to climb up as others helped to lift her up to the man.

To Chad this was unacceptable as if too many got over the wall then the whole train yard would turn to a riot. Using his, [Finger of dark creations, Level 2] Chad quickly stung them all and pulled himself over the wall with ease.

Now In front of him, he could see people gathering on a train that had a large text on one of it's carts that said Zambia. Figuring that this train was most likely heading towards the south where Zambia was Chad ran to the train cart and decided to hop on to it.

Climbing atop the train Chad then sat back and relaxed ready to watch the carnage that was about to unfold in front of him.

On the wall he had just climbed over the group of people there started to slowly turn earning the attention of many worried by Stander's. Some brave and kind people immediately rushed to help the people but then just like before they were the first to go as the zombies awakened.

In front of the train seeing this scene the train operator did the sign of the cross and started the trains engine before getting the clear signal to go. Seemingly uncaring of this the train slowly started to move.

Chad watched as people in desperation ran to the train and some even came to his cart and tried to climb atop it to where he was. Seeing this as unacceptable he started infecting the people trying to get on and watched as their twitching bodies fell off the moving train to the ground.

Picking up speed the train left the rail yard, but as it did so Chad froze as he saw something familiar in the panicking crowd of people behind. There he saw the cute girl from the bar.

His heart skipped a beat as he contemplated to himself if he should jump off the train and go help her. As the train turned a corner a massive fuel tank blocked his view for just a second. Passing the fuel tank Chad then again caught sight of the crowd but couldn't see the girl anymore. All he saw was people being tackled to the ground and being fed on by the zombies.

" Must have been my imagination. " Chad thought to himself as he sat down alone on the train cart.

Soon the train sped past the city all the while turning south and then the train closed in on the main road that led out of the city. The road in all the panic of the city had many people's abandoned vehicles on it, but the train didn't care as it simply slammed right through the cars and continued past the road onwards.

Looking at the city from there Chad was amazed to see the zombies climbing on buildings and jumping down onto the crowds of people below as other zombies seemingly without much effort ran the townspeople down. Despite their dead state, the mutated zombies that were many seemed much faster and stronger than the normal living men in the city. It seemed as if the mutations had made them quite strong.

Also, he noticed the constant xp points coming to him. Despite level 10 requiring almost 3 thousand people's lives, he had almost already reached that number now.

Then as the train exited the city he saw a group of 6 police men armed with assault rifles gunning down a group of 30 or so zombies. The regular zombies just charged blindly in the open towards the police who seemed to very quickly understand that the zombies weak spots were their heads.

From a distance, Chad could see that despite the zombies outnumbering the policemen greatly they were quickly all gunned down.

Seeing the sight brought him hope and affirmed his belief that despite getting a lot of people killed by doing what he was doing, in the end, thanks to Africa's large population and a large amount of guns the nations of Africa could quickly push the zombies back and win. Like so this case of zombies emerging here in Africa would be just one more blood bath added to Africa's long history of bloody baths and nothing more.

Unlike in the movies where the virus spread like crazy and nobody could stop it except the main protagonist who seemingly never had any issues taking down birds of zombies. This was real life and in real life, everyone was capable of gunning down some regular zombies. Meaning that the death toll would be contained to a minimum and he would obtain his needed experience and souls.

Then as he thought of this the notification for him reaching level 10 came up and he turned his attention to it.

But unknown to Chad the group of 6 police immediately after gunning down the 30 or so zombies were ambushed. From behind bushes and above buildings mutated zombies pounced on the group of police and made quick work of them.

[Level up!]

Looking at his stats Chad smiled.

Chad Redfield

Rogue Level 10

[STATS]

14 strength

24 Agility

24 Stamina

12 Intelligence

12 Spirit.

Then he noticed that new options had emerged. Now finally he could either continue with his rogue class or switch to another class. Of course, as he got stronger in one class he knew it would most likely be better than being strong in multiple different classes at the same time.

Looking at his options he could see three different class options.

[Mage]

[Warrior]

[Hunter]

Then there were three choices under the rogue class. Choices to choose his specialization.

[Assassin]

[Dishonourable]

[Shadow]

Seeing as he could change classes at any time now he decided to continue his rogue class. Looking at the specializations and seeing as stealth had served him quite well so far he decided to pick Shadow.

Now thanks to his level 10 rogue, he gained [Poison Arts level 1] which he quickly turned to his new upgrade cap of level 3. For this, he used a total of 30 souls.

Then there was the Specialized skill he now gained called. [Shadowstep level 1] Once again he upgraded it to level 3 with 30 souls.

After that, he used 300 additional souls to upgrade all his skills to level 3. With that done Chad felt satisfied. Activating his green spore skill, level 3 he then lay back and closed his eyes. Along the journey, he would spread these goblin-spawning spores throughout the Tanzanian countryside that had the horrible fate of being next to the train tracks.

Unknown to Chad far up north in Barundi the first zombie had once more started to mutate. The former tourist guide l, the original Blackman zombie.

In a now ruined police building on the topmost floor in the police chiefs office. The former leader of this department was screaming in agony as the number one zombie feasted on his living flesh.

Then it suddenly froze, giving the chief of police just enough space to crawl away from it. Quickly he went behind his desk and opened a locker that hid his spare bullets.

Just some time ago he had unloaded all his revolver bullets into the zombies but without any effect. This had left him completely stunned as he was sure that he had hit all the crazed man's vital organs. But nonetheless, the man hadn't died and was still moving.

With trembling hands and feeling a sudden fever coming along he nonetheless managed to load his revolver. Peaking his head out from behind the desk he froze. No more was there a thin, medium-height man with long nails and dead eyes standing there. No, now there was a massive monster standing there looking at him. It's body resembled that of those massive Americans he had sometimes seen online, or more specifically it was like a deformed gorilla made of flesh. Flesh it was Mede of seemed hard like stone, it's head seemed to be just above the center of it's body. It's shoulders were higher than its head, it's back was so massive that it had grown higher than its head was.

Then like a two and a half meters tall gorilla it used it's unnaturally long arms to move towards him on all fours.

Frightened the chief stepped back and this time unloaded his entire 6 shots into the hulking monsters face. Like rocks being thrown at a car. The bullets created small dents and scratches but didn't pierce it's skin.

Seemingly enraged by this the behemoth used it's massive hand to grab the chief and with all it's might he tossed him against the thin office wall. The chief died instantly as his body was turned into meat paste and amazingly flew straight through the wall and into the city below.

Angered the behemoth roared and jumped down the high building crushing cars underneath its weight as it did so. Then with another roar all nearby zombies gathered around him and together, they charged further toward the heart of the city.
