Wish

Nurses and doctors rush in, so I jump up out of their way and huddle on the couch, since it's far enough from the bed I'm not in the area they need.

I sit with my knees pulled up to my chest and wrap my arms around them, because I feel like if I don't hang onto something I might pass out from fear.

The kwamis slip over to me and hover around my head, whispering amongst themselves.

I can't make out anything they're saying, mostly because I'm listening intently to the hospital workers, trying to find out if they can do anything.

The kwamis fall silent as the Doctor monitoring y/n's vitals shakes his head.

Plagg pats me on the shoulder as he turns away from the scene, while Kaalki rests her head on my hand and sniffles.

I feel my heart drop to my stomach, and tears flow down my cheeks.

"I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do now." One of the nurses says to me with a regretful look.

"Bu-but what happened? I thought she was going to be ok?" I hear myself whisper.

"It seems the knife was composed of, or had on it, a strange, foreign material that got into her bloodstream and poisoned her. It happened so quickly, we weren't able to stop it."

"Are you sure there's nothing that can be done?"

"Nothing short of a miracle."

I don't say anything, nor do I feel anything.

Other than pain.

They tell me to leave so they can do I don't even want to think about what with her.

I go back to that waiting room I was in before and just sit there with the kwamis.

Her parents left their contact information somewhere, so they'll be called in soon.

They're probably going to yell at me.

It's ok.

I deserve it.

This is all my fault, I should've been watching more.

She sacrificed herself for me.

Why didn't it poison me instead?

The same knife cut me, how am I not poisoned too?

Maybe because it wasn't fully stabbed into me.

I don't know what this voice inside my head is, but if there's a chance I could save y/n I want to take it.

"PLAGG!!" I say loudly.

"What?" He asks, flying up to my face.

"You once said something to me about you'd met a genie! Was that true?!"

"Yeah, but I also said I'm way more personable. That was also true."

"What do you mean?"

"There's very few genies around these days, and most of them aren't very cooperative."

"I'll do anything!"

"Seriously Adrien, genies are bad news."

"Aren't you more powerful?"

"In some ways. But genies aren't as limited, I can only use Cataclysm, a genie can do basically whatever they want, like twisting a wish."

I run my fingers through my hair, looking at him with the most earnest look I can muster.

The empty feeling is still there, but now there's a spark of hope.

"Could I bring the genie something in return? So it would be more likely to help me?"

"There's no point, a genie can make anything they want."

"But it would be like a peace offering! Wouldn't that count for something?"

"You sure are persistent. I met a genie in Arabia, but that was a millennial ago, I have no idea if he's still there."

"It's worth a shot! Could you two work together and get me there?" I ask Plagg and Kaalki.

"We can try." Kaalki says.

I almost transform, then realize I'm still in a hospital gown. Luckily I grabbed my clothes, because I don't ever want to return to that room.

After I've quickly changed and washed my face in the bathroom, I transform into Cat Noir.

As I'm about to combine the kwamis, I hear y/n's parents at the front desk.

I should go see them, I guess.

If to do nothing more than have them not let anybody do anything to y/n.

I step outside the bathroom and find them.

"What happened?! I thought she was going to be fine?!" "What did you do?!" Her parents start speaking at once.

"The doctors will explain what happened, but don't let then to anything to her, I may have a way to fix this! Just give me a little bit!"

"Why should we trust you?!"

"Because y/n did!"

I leave them standing there as I start running away, merging the two miraculouses and summoning a portal as I run.

Once I'm through, I close the portal and look around.

I find myself on the slope of a steep mountain, in front of a cave.

Guessing this is the place, I start my journey inside.

While I look around in silence, the beeping of Kaalki's miraculous startles me and I jump.

When I realize what it was, I laugh at my nerves.

Though I have good reason to be nervous, if I can't find this genie I'll lose y/n forever.

And that's the worst thing I can think of.

I rest my hand on the wall beside me, which results in almost falling.

The cave wall isn't really a wall.

At the angle I saw it I couldn't tell that it was another opening to a small chamber, and hidden in a crack of the wall, I can just see something poking out.

The miraculous beeps again, and once again, I almost jump out of my skin.

I detransform to stop the beeping, and give Kaalki the other container of applesauce she'd found.

She quietly sits on my shoulder as I walk to the place in the wall, and pull out a small ring.

I don't know how this works, if I'm supposed to rub it or what.

So I just do the only thing I can think of, I put it on my pointer finger and rub it.

Smoke starts emitting from around the gem on top, before coming together and forming a wispy being.

"" Says a booming voice.

I gulp.

I may have underestimated this.
