Fancy

You were trying to force your way through some schoolwork when your phone buzzed, and you were happy to be distracted.

Even happier when you find it's from Adrien.

You chat a minute more, before he has to get back to class from the break.

So you try to endure the rest of the schoolwork, then take Shadow on his walk.

For the most part it's uneventful, except when you run into Alya.

"Hi y/n!" She says

"Uh, hey."

"So have you seen Ladybug recently? I haven't in days!"

"Not really, no. Why?"

"It's hard to run a blog about her when she's never around."

"Right. Well, the only super I ever see is Cat, so. I can't help you."

"I asked him about her too, but he said the same thing. She's never out. I hope nothing happened to her!"

She leaves after that, muttering about something.

You wonder how many other people are concerned.

Maybe somebody should tell them?

You continue the walk until you expect things should have calmed down at home.

When you return you find your mother to tell her that you're going to Adrien's for dinner.

"Oh good, s/n was wanting something you don't like anyway."

"Then this will work out well!"

You get Shadow situated again and start looking for something to wear.

But you don't know if you should dress fancy or if that would be too much.

Eventually you decide and go get ready.

Once you've finished you make your way outside and start walking.

Before you get there, you remember to stop at a florist and get a couple flowers.

You find a green one for Adrien and a yellow one for his mother, since yellow is supposed to symbolize friendship.

You don't know what green means, but you know it's his favorite color so it sounds like a good idea.

When you finish with the flowers, you continue to the giant house, until the gates stop you.

You don't know how you're supposed to get through, so you stand there a minute until a weird eye looking thing comes out of the wall beside the gate.

"Boo!" You hear Adrien laughing as you look at the thing in confusion.

"What is that?" You ask.

"A camera. With a microphone! I may or may not scare people like this sometimes."

"You nerd." You laugh.

"OK, the gates should open now." He says, as they swing open.

"Yep!"

You walk through them quickly, unsure if they could swing shut on you.

As you reach the doors they open as well, and Adrien walks out.

"Hi-Whoa..." You both start to greet each other, then trail off.

"You look fancy!" You say in unison.

"Mom told me I should." He shrugs.

"I can already tell I like her."

"And I don't know who told you to wear that, but I think I love them."

"I told me."

"Then I definitely do."

You laugh, and start to go in.

"Wait, why are you acting like you didn't just see me two seconds ago?" You ask.

"The camera mostly just shows your face, unless you're farther away. Not that I'm complaining, I quite enjoy starting at your face." He clarifies.

"Back at ya." You laugh.

"Oh! As promised." You say, handing him the flower.

"Aww, thanks." He grins, starting to smell it.

"Yeah, I was worried about the fact that it was next to the catnip, but it's probably OK, right?" You say, trying not to laugh.

He stops mid sniff and lowers the flower.

"What?"

"I'm kidding!" You laugh.

"You scared me!"

"You deserve it after scaring me with your camera thing!"

"That wasn't so bad! But now is not the time for catnip!"

"So there is a time?"

"No!"

You crack up at him and follow him until you see his mother coming out of a room.

"Oh, hello! I didn't realize you had arrived!" She says, walking towards you.

"I just got here."

"Adrien, why didn't you tell me? You know I like greeting guests first thing."

"Because he wanted to scare me with the camera thing."

"Like you wouldn't have done the same thing." He counters.

"That's not the point." You laugh.

He puts his hands on his hips and makes a face at you.

"Adrien, you're going to crush that flower. Now give it her."

"But she got it for me." He pouts.

"I have one for you, as well!" You try to sound fancy as you hand it to her.

"Oh, why thank you! How sweet!"

You smile and she goes to find something to put them in.

"You don't have to talk so proper, it's OK." Adrien whispers.

"I just want to make a good impression. Were you this nervous when you met my family?"

"I thought I was going to pass out."

"You did a good job of hiding it."

"I'm glad." He laughs, and leads you into the dining room.

"Wow." You say, looking at the elaborate spread.

"Yeah... She likes to go all out."

"She? I could've sworn this was your doing, Mr. Cheesy."

"I just had a few suggestions, that's all!"

"Riighhhtt."

Mrs. Agreste comes back in before you can say anything else, and says to sit.

You of course take the seat next to Adrien, with his mother across.

"So. What would everyone like to eat?" She asks.

Adrien says what he wants, but you don't really know what they mean.

Are they ordering take out?

Emilie looks at you, clearly asking again what you want.

"Uhhh..." You look to Adrien for help.

"Seriously, whatever you want. Our chef is like a wizard."

"So you just order like a restaurant?"

"Basically."

So you say your favorite food, and Emilie leaves to tell the chef.

"I feel like I've never really thought about how you live. A private chef?"

"Yeah. My father hired everyone, and nobody wanted to leave after everything, so we just kept the staff."

"I guess I never realized what it's like to have people working for you."

"It does seem kinda weird, huh? But I'll be honest, seeing your mom making one thing herself for everyone was a bit of a surprise. Obviously I knew not everyone has chefs, but still. I told you my mom makes pancakes for us, but that's only on Saturdays. Usually the chef just makes whatever we want."

"Wow. I can't believe I didn't know you had workers."

"I just never said anything about them. Figured you didn't want to hear about the fact that I've rarely had a messy room because people clean it for me."

"And here I've been letting you in my disaster area."

"I like your room! It feels more lived in."

The conversation is halted then, when Emilie comes back, and you prepare for awkwardness.

You're just glad it didn't have to be his father instead.
