Eden's Past-5: Injustice And Hundred Years Of Torture

Shortly, we arrived at the entrance of our palace and noticed that bastard, along with his troop, standing there as if he were waiting for us.

"What's the meaning of this, Lord Nerothen?"

My lady stepped forward, asking while glaring straight at him.

Her grip was tightening as if she were trying to surpass her emotions to kill him.

"Oh, Celestia~"

Nerothen started his cheesy act and smirked, adding, "I'm honoured that you came here to welcome me. However, today, I'm not here to meet you."

His initial soft gaze turned sharp as he shifted his attention to me, and then he proclaimed, "I'm here to take this bastard to the Judgment Of Honour for the crimes he has committed!"

"What?" I was bewildered by his absurd claim, but my lady, on the other hand, remained composed.

She sighed, and her golden gaze turned lethal as she fixed her stare on Nerothen, inquiring, "What do you mean, Nerothen?"

"My lady..." I whispered after witnessing her agitation.

I subtly signalled her to remain calm, considering the presence of the troops.

I didn't want her benevolent and compassionate goddess image to be spoiled.

Nerothen's behaviour was undoubtedly outrageous, and he deserved to be crucified.

However, people here seemed more interested in gossip than justice.

If I allow my lady to confront Nerothen, then even if this bastard were clearly wrong, people here would gossip about my lady being two-faced.

Sigh!

Noticing my gesture, my lady sighed and continued, "My apologies for the sudden slip of my tongue, Lord Nerothen. But may I ask, What's this all about?"

"Ask this wretched angel of yours."

Nerothen grunted and pointed at me, adding, "He needs to be punished for destroying my palace!"

"Destroyed your palace?" My lady raised an eyebrow and looked at me inquisitively.

"...." Meanwhile, I didn't say anything but continued to gaze at Nerothen.

I realized that it was all his doing for another loathsome play of his.

Witnessing my lady's reaction, Nerothen grinned slyly, and upon seeing my silence, he continued, "You see, Celestia, your beloved angel here, with his out-of-control power, destroyed my palace along with all the valuable artifacts within it. I demand justice for my losses!"

'My lady.' I used my telekinesis to talk to her, saying, 'He appears to be scheming something to separate you from me.'

'Don't worry. I'm always here with you.' In response, my lady giggled inwardly.

Then, she smiled and turned back to Nerothen and responded, "Lord Nerothen, I find it hard to believe that my Requaniel would act recklessly to destroy your palace."

Then, she added,

"In any case, do you have any concrete evidence to support your claims?"

"Oh, I do have proof, my beloved Celestia~"

With a cheesy smile, Nerothen nodded and presented some documents to my lady, stating, "These documents have been verified by the Heavenly Lab of Planetary Wolk, confirming the presence of your angel's energy there."

"What?!" My lady was left speechless upon hearing this.

She was well aware that, much like the Judgement of Honour, the reports from the Heavenly Lab of Skylight had never been wrong.

Wait, he said that my energy was found there, right?

And he was tormenting me yesterday, so it's entirely possible that he extracted my energy and circulated it around his palace!

Although I seemed to realize it, my eyes shifted to my lady to hear her response.

She examined the documents he had presented, and after a brief silence, she inquired, "So, if I understand it correctly, you claim that Requaniel is responsible for the destruction of your palace?"

"Indeed." With a smirk, Nerothen nodded, feeling as if he had already won this argument.

"And may I ask when?"

My lady asked as her gaze sharpened again.

"Yesterday, ofcourse—*Thud!*–Urgh?!"

"Get lost."

"Huh?"

However, before Nerothen could even finish his words, my lady turbulently threw the documents on his face and pointed her spear at him as if intimidating him, saying. "This is the last warning. If you don't go away within 5 seconds, then don't blame me for what will happen to you."

Sigh!

Well, since the situation had turned out to be like this, there was only one thing I could do as her lover and loyal aid.

*Swish!*

I materialized my blade in my right palm and stood beside my lady, pointing it at Nerothen, warning him, "My lady has little patience for repetition, Lord Nerothen,"

Then I narrowed my gaze, and continued,

"Please go, or else…I'm sure my lady will be lenient, but I won't."

"You!!"

Nerothen's face twisted in anger as he clenched his fists. "Celestia, do you even know what you're doing?"

He was surely trying to remind us of the rule, but at that moment, I had only one thought in my mind: 'Rules, my ass. I don't care.'

"I know very well what I'm doing, Nerothen."

My Lady replied in her informal tone while thrusting her spear on the ground, adding,

"Now, you better scram or else…"

"Celestia."

"?!"

But before my lady could even finish her statement, a sagacious voice snapped us back to our senses.

As I shifted my attention to the front, towards the troops, I noticed a familiar figure approaching us with a serious expression on his face.

His azure eyes, akin to a divine lake, fixated on us.

Donned in white astral robes, his cascading brown hair framed his godly presence.

Despite his appearance resembling that of a mortal in his early forties, there was no doubt—he was no mere mortal!

The pain in my body increased due to apprehension after noticing him, the divine existence, stepping towards us.

"Father Jes…"

My lady called out as her grip loosened and her spear fell to the floor, making a clicking noise.

"Why have you resorted to violence, my child? Have you forgotten the rules set for us gods?" He asked, his arms held behind his back, and he fixed his gaze on my lady. Although his expression was calm, his eyes were giving off a tremendously petrifying aura that curdled our blood.

"Father..." My lady bit her lip and finally locked her eyes with Father Jes, voicing her distress: "Nerothen is accusing Requaniel of something he couldn't have done. Requaniel was with me yesterday. How could he possibly be responsible for this? He's not made of quantum particles, Father."

"So, are you saying that the report provided by the Heavenly Lab of Planetary Wolk is wrong?"

Father Jes' eyes sharpened since he felt as if my lady was trying to tarnish the reputation of the heavenly lab.

My lady felt his piercing gaze as she tried to compose herself, remarking, "I didn't mean to cast doubts on the heavenly lab, but—"

"Answer me."

However, Father Jes interrupted her with a deep tone, demanding an answer to his question first.

"Your Highness," I began, attempting to mediate, "My lady didn't intend to offend anyone. She was just—"

"I'm asking my daughter, Requaniel," Father Jes interrupted, fixing a stern gaze on me. "Don't involve yourself in adult matters."

'Oh, hello! This so-called adult business includes me, too, you old man!'

Out of frustration, I sighed inwardly and lowered my gaze.

"I didn't intend to question the accuracy of the Heavenly Lab's report," My lady replied.

Nonetheless, her voice turned a bit more humble as she continued, "However, Requaniel was with me yesterday, and there must be some mistake or misinterpretation, Father."

"..." Hearing her reply, Father Jes lowered his gaze and turned around, asking, "Do you have any proof?"

"...." His demands silenced us since there was only one way to prove it.

But the problem was that our hidden relationship would be revealed.

The solution would be to use a time mirror that shows events within a realm at a specific time.

If only this mirror could display activities within a soul realm, I might quickly spoil Nerothen's plans in a second, but regrettably, it only worked within physical realms.

"No comments, hmm?"

Father Jes sighed and snapped his fingers, commanding, "Capture Requaniel."

Obeying his command, the tropes advanced towards me while I stayed vigilant, glaring at them.

"Wait a minute." In his usual cheeky voice, Nerothen stepped forward, saying, "I have a confession to make, Father."

"Hmm? What is it now?" Father Jes didn't bother turning completely but just rolled his eyes at him.

"According to the divine rule of Metalonia, if an angel commits a crime, then his goddess can still protect him by sacrificing one of her important aspects of life, correct?" Nerothen remarked, and he seemed to be plotting something again, making me anxious, as I had a feeling he might do something drastic over his obsession with my lady.

"That's true, and the victim can ask for any confession he wants from the wrongdoer."

Father Jes added and shifted his gaze at us.

"Certainly~"

Nerothen grinned as his wicked gaze fell on us.

He continued, "Father, I propose that Celestia reprimand Requaniel for the alleged damage to my palace by temporarily revoking his status as the Angel of Protection."

"?!" His testimony stunned both Father Jes and my lady.

I knew that he wouldn't ask Father Jes for my lady's hand since it was something only Father Jes would decide.

However, the fact that he had taken such an atrocious course of action didn't surprise me, given his malevolent nature.

"No, Father! Don't listen to him. He's the one who put Requaniel through merciless torture in his soul realm!"

Glimpsing that things were going out of our hands, my lady revealed this to Father Jes.

Nerothen's expression shifted from confidence to startled as he heard this.

He might have thought that she wouldn't be able to know it because of the curse, but her mysterious ability helped her anyway.

'Heh, he was doomed for sure. Your Highness would definitely—'

"So what?"

'?!'

Immediately, I shifted my gaze to Father Jes after noticing him disregarding my lady's testimony.

"I don't care. If Nerothen did so, he might have a reason. Although, Requaniel won't be revoked from his position."

"Instead, he should be sent to the punishment room and should reflect on his actions for a hundred years without seeing anyone, not even you, Celestia."

Saying this, he ignored us and started walking away.

"Father, wait!"

My lady wailed to stop him, but to no avail.

Seriously! This old geezer pissed me off a lot!

Father Albert of other heavenly realms was better than this oldie!

My anger welled up as I lowered my gaze, calling out,

"Are you even a god?"

"?!"

I sensed the startling looks on their faces, but I fucking didn't care!

He used to be a nice person to me, but after the blood war two hundred years ago, he changed his demeanor towards me completely.

Raising my gaze, I shifted my eyes at Father Jes, questioning, "What type of God are you? How can a god be so biased?"

"...."

Father Jes didn't reply but lowered his gaze.

"Why are you silent now? Say something. How can you—Urgh!"

Unexpectedly, I felt a hard punch land on my nape, making me fall to the floor immediately.

"Requaniel!"

I heard my lady's voice, but suddenly, everything started blacking out.

As my eyes started rolling back, I got a glimpse of my father standing beside Father Jes, with a visage of anger etched on his face.

Ah…I couldn't expect much from him. Even calling him my father felt like an unbearable burden.

Shortly, only darkness was left for me to perceive.
