The students at the Royal Academy were caught up in their daily lives, waking up bright and early, attending classes, and hitting the training grounds.
This routine was the same for everyone, including Kyle. However, unlike the other hardworking students who practiced day and night, he wasn't as optimistic. He would only put in a few hours of practice before calling it a day.
Sure, he had a strong desire to become powerful after discovering his bloodline, but he didn't have any urgent matters to attend to. Besides, the people he knew were capable of taking care of themselves. That's why, even though he had that desire to become powerful, he wasn't in a rush like Alec, who had seen the world nearly crumble.
In the meantime, Alec, who was keeping a close eye on Kyle, became increasingly amazed during their sparring sessions.
In just one month, Kyle's progress was equivalent to someone who had practiced for at least a year!
During their sparring sessions, Kyle would always end up on the losing side, but as time went on, his movements became smoother and more powerful.
What astonished Alec even more was that Kyle didn't even practice those specific movements. It was as if Kyle had been observing everyone in the training grounds all along and utilized those moves when he fought against Alec.
Apart from Alec, Kyle also sparred with Carcel. The first time Carcel fought against Kyle, not only him but everyone in the training ground was left stunned. Even though Kyle ultimately lost, he managed to go head-to-head with Carcel for over five minutes. It was incredible considering Kyle's talent was lower than Carcel's.
Amidst everything, Alec felt a little frustrated. After all, he, Carcel, and the others would practice all night long, and sometimes even Nine would join in. But Kyle? He would leave the moment the sun even hinted at setting. Kyle was lazy, not just a little, but too lazy.
Regardless, the talent Kyle showed in just a month was enough to make others envious. Liam, the training instructor, was also amazed at Kyle's performance. He was tempted to take Kyle as a disciple, but when Aliza told him that Kyle's talent was only (B)-Rank, Liam had no choice but to sigh.
What's the point of such incredible potential when he can't go beyond (B)-Rank? He found it a pity that someone like Kyle had such low talent. If only he had (S)-Rank or higher talent, he would easily be able to rival someone like Alec.
Kyle also got a little closer with Alec and Carcel due to them sparring with each other a lot. At first, he found Alec's friendly behavior suspicious because even when he ignored him, Alec would try to approach him. But as time passed and he saw Alec still being too friendly, Kyle thought maybe he misunderstood his good intentions.
Moreover, thinking about the same thing for a long time wasn't what Kyle would do. He found it bothersome and time-consuming. Instead of thinking and exhausting his brain, he would better sleep.
Kyle and Alec's interaction wasn't to the point of calling them best friends, but it was enough to make them casual friends with each other.
Lara was still uncomfortable around Kyle because she ignored him first. It was also too much for her to just go and sit with him and pretend nothing happened. That's why she always dragged Mia to the back seats, which left Alec with no choice but to join them.
Nevertheless, Alec was the first one to break through to (E-)-Rank. He was on the verge of a breakthrough before entering the Academy, but someone stole his mission during the ranking assessment, so he had to wait for a natural breakthrough.
The moment Alec reached (E-)-Rank, there was an uproar in the Royal Academy. Achieving such a high rank at such a young age was a remarkable accomplishment.
Vice Principal George personally visited Alec and praised him in front of the whole class. George wanted to instill a sense of competition in the students, and he wanted to remind them to practice hard or face the consequences of being kicked out of the Academy.
Kyle, who was sitting with Nine, couldn't understand why the Vice Principal was giving him such a cold stare. He was working hard and receiving praise from everyone, so why was the Vice Principal glaring at him?
Little did he know, that whenever he was displaying laziness, George would catch him and become furious. The Vice Principal had to restrain himself from kicking Kyle out of the Academy. No one knew if it was just a coincidence or if Kyle's luck had run out.
The next morning, as usual, Kyle woke up and started getting ready for class. But right before he could open the dorm door, he noticed something was missing. He quickly turned around and looked at the table in the room. There were clothes scattered on top, but nothing else.
"Where's the egg?"
Kyle panicked. He rushed to the table, picked up all the clothes, and searched underneath, but found nothing.
Instantly, he started to sweat. He clearly remembered seeing the egg before he went to sleep. How could he be so careless? He had promised the phoenix that he would take care of it!
"Damn it!"
He walked towards the bed, ready to throw the sheets aside and search the whole room. But before he could, something hard hit his left foot.
Kyle looked down and breathed a sigh of relief as he picked up the egg from the floor.
"Why are you here? You almost scared me."
He narrowed his eyes as he noticed the red color of the egg starting to change into a deep fiery hue.
"Is it going to hatch?"
He approached the table, his face filled with curiosity. He wanted to study the egg further, but he was running late for class. So, Kyle quickly placed the egg on top of the clothes and prepared to leave.
As he glanced back at the egg, he was astonished to see it trembling. When he took a step back, it seemed like the egg was trying to follow him.
"What the heck!"
He exclaimed, frustrated. This little thing! What if it fell on the floor again after he left? It might break this time!
"If you're going to hatch, just come out already. I can't carry you around all the time. It's dangerous."
Kyle picked up the egg and placed it inside a small bag with a sigh. He tied the bag to his waist before finally heading to the classroom.
