~CASSELBA'S POV
I STAND PACING THE LIVING ROOM of Theo's house when the men walk back in. After seeing the deathly inscription clawed into the flesh of those poor souls, I couldn't stay there for one more second. It was just so awful; the sight of their flesh ripped apart so some sick bastards could append their names in some kind of twisted sense. It's sickening and heartbreaking, and I'd almost retched my guts back there. For me, that is new. I have seen enough dead bodies to look Death itself in the eye. But this. . .this is different.
This is mass murder.
"Hey! Cassie, are you okay?"
The hard voice makes me jump and I jolt when a soft hand levels on my shoulder. As quickly as it lands, it flies off and I turn to see Caden with his hands held high. "I'm sorry. Did I startle you?" He says. Gulping down, I feel my heart wind back from its abrupt tremor. Caden keeps his hands up, giving me space to catch my breath.
