Chapter 3 Coral

"Doctor, how is she?" Sofia asked with a worried expression etched on her face.

"She's doing fine! She was unconscious for a little while, but she'll wake up soon," the doctor reassured her. "You can go inside and meet her. She should fully regain consciousness in about thirty minutes."

Relieved, Sofia let out a sigh and gently tugged James along with her as they entered the ward. They walked quietly towards the bed, Sofia taking a seat next to it while James settled onto the nearby sofa.

As a gentle breeze blew through the open window, the curtains lifted. From the high floor, city neon lights illuminated the room where the girl lay on the bed. She stirred, her eyelashes fluttering as she slowly opened her eyes. The world appeared blurry to her, but she felt a soft touch on her hand, causing her to startle.

"Are you awake, child?" a soothing voice reached her ears, and she blinked, trying to focus on the source of the voice.

She saw a beautiful and kind-looking lady before her, and her gaze darted around the room, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. As she attempted to sit up, the lady quickly placed a pillow behind her back, offering support. Coral, still feeling disoriented, looked at the lady with curiosity and confusion in her eyes.

"Who are you?" Coral asked innocently, her gaze shifting rapidly around the room as she took in the new sights—the city lights coming through the window, the cozy sofa, and the warm lighting that gave the room a cinematic feel.

Sofia smiled warmly at Coral and replied, "We found you unconscious near the beach, dear." She couldn't help but notice how adorable Coral looked, like a child discovering new things for the first time, especially with her eyes sparkling as she took in her surroundings.

'She's so cute and adorable,' Sofia thought to herself, amazed by Coral's innocence.

Coral's mind started racing as memories flooded back, and she began to panic. Sensing her distress, Sofia gently patted her back, trying to soothe her.

"Take a deep breath, child," Sofia spoke softly, her voice filled with reassurance.

As Coral started to calm down, Sofia asked her, "What's your name, child?"

"Coral," she replied, feeling a bit embarrassed about losing her composure in front of this kind woman.

"Good, good. I'm Sofia, and this is my husband, James," Sofia said, growing more excited as she interacted with Coral, who had such a soft and melodious voice.

"By the way, where are you from? Where are your parents? Can you give me their number so I can call them?" Sofia's words came out in a rush, her eagerness to help evident.

Though Coral didn't understand most of what Sofia was saying, she grasped that Sofia was asking about her parents. However, she couldn't remember having any parents; she had grown up alone, not knowing them.

"I don't know," Coral replied, her eyes filled with confusion.

Sofia's eyes widened in surprise. "And where are you from?" she asked.

"The sea," Coral answered once again.

Sofia glanced at her husband, who nodded in agreement before he stepped out of the ward. He returned soon after, accompanied by a young doctor.

"Miss Coral, we need to ask you some questions about your health. Will you cooperate with us by answering the questions?" the young doctor asked. When he first saw Coral, he was captivated by her beauty; she was more beautiful than any female star he had ever seen.

"Okay," Coral replied. She didn't know where she was, so she remained guarded. However, the kind energy radiating from these people put her at ease. She had a special ability to sense energy.

"What's your name?" the doctor asked, holding a tablet in his hand.

"Coral."

"Where are you from?"

"The sea."

"How old are you?"

"Sixteen."

And so, the doctor continued asking questions, occasionally glancing at James.

"Mr. Li, can we talk in my office?" the doctor requested. James nodded and followed him, leaving Sofia looking anxious and worried. James reassured her with a comforting blink of his eyes.

Unnoticed by the others, Coral's eyes remained fixed on the tablet in the doctor's hands the entire time, her mind consumed by the shiny gadget.

Well, at least she didn't throw him like she threw the octopus and fish. ;)
