CHAPTER SIX

The path that led to Amigo was a quiet one. Few cars, few houses, few people- making Amigo more peaceful. Ever since Elena was little, she'd always loved walking on the path to relieve stress. When she was younger, it was whenever she was displeased. Whenever she didn't like the meal cooked or had fought with a kid.

She walked a little further, accompanied as usual by the ever fresh breeze, endless scattered leaves, and the tiny pebbles begging to be kicked around.

She found herself in a nearby park. The screams and squeals of happy people messing with her headphones. She and June had been there once. They both got their faces painted over and over again and ended up looking like a character from the walking dead.

Elena smiled at the memory as it quickly vanished as she almost jumped. She pulled off my headphones turning to see who tapped her.

She turned to see Daniel looking as handsome as ever.

"Oh Daniel," she panted. "You scared me."

"Oh, I didn't mean to. I'm sorry," he apologized. "You didn't hear me, I was calling your name quite a number of times."

"Oh," she said pointing to my headphones. "I couldn't hear you."

"Yeah,"he replied, his hands sliding down his pockets. "What are you listening to?"

"Ateez,"  she replied. "Now BTS. You listen to em?"

"I'm not so sure," he chuckled. "I've only heard about them. Breaking records and all."

"Oh. They're quite nice."

"Yeah, they're Chinese and..."

"They're Korean," she corrected, laughing lightly. She took off her headphones as she plugged them into his ears.

He listened for about a minute. "Mhm, nice. What's the name?"

"Magic Shop," she smiled. You give me the best of me, so you'll give you the best of you.

"Nice. What are you doing here anyways?" He asked, returning her headphones. "Are you alone?"

"Yeah," she replied. "I came to relieve stress."

"Mind if I join you?"

"Of course not."

They walked and talked. They talked on different topics- from music, to life, to taste in food, to why she hated maths.

"So what was bothering your mind?" He finally asked, when they were seated beside a waterfall.

Elena leaned over to place her hand close to the waterfall, allowing the water splash on her. "Can I lie now and say the truth later?"

"Sure," he replied, laughing lightly. "Whenever you ready."

I nodded. "I hate hospitals and I have to go soon."

He nodded, though she didn't understand what it what supposed to mean. Nice lie or how lame.

"It'll be okay," he said, looking at her straight in the eye. He took her hands and squeezed it.

A light blush still managed to crawl on her cheeks.

She waited for a 'true' or 'false' to ring but none rang.

They stayed in that position for quite some time before she decided to break it. Her mind was screaming. It was getting awkward.

"Ayy, I lost track of time," she broke it. "I better start going back."

"Sure," he said, his hands running through his neck, nervously? "I'll walk you home."

"Yeah, home," she muttered, standing up. "I live at Amigo."

"Amigo?"

"Yup," she replied popping the 'p'. "An Orphanage. Amigo is an Orphanage."

"Oh, wow. I mean I'm sorry," he said awkwardly. "I had no idea you lived at an Orphanage."

"Well, yeah," she shrugged. "Quite surprised eh?"

"Yeah. I mean it's unusual, school and all. I'm sorry," he replied. "So your parents are dead or what. I'm sorry, my manners."

"It's no big deal," she replied honestly. "Yeah, Sort of." Or so I was made to believe.

"Oh. I'm sorry," he replied. "So can I come with you. I mean can I see Amigo. I bet it's pretty cool."

"Yeah, maybe some other day," she smiled. "It's pretty late already, the Sisters wouldn't quite appreciate coming home this late with a guy."

"Sure, I understand," he replied. "Sisters? Nuns?"

"Yeah. Amigo is run by Nuns."

"Cool. I'm guessing that's Amigo," he said pointing to a the huge Amigo building.

"Yes it is," she replied, her face lit up. "Wow, we've come so far."

"It was nice hanging out with you Elena, really," he said, her heart melting. "See you at school tomorrow. Bye."

"Same here," she replied grinning. "Bye. You go first."

"No you."

"No you."

"No you."

"We're not playing that stupid game," she laughed as she turned. "Byee."

She turned to watch him go, slowly watching his figure disappear.

She smiled. She had just spent over two hours with her crush talking about random things.

OMGGGGG. June, you would totally not believe this. I went out and saw Daniel and we talked for so long and...

She stopped in her tracks immediately she realized what she was doing. Her fingers hit the delete button as she deleted the messages.

Why couldn't she text June?

Why couldn't she all her and scream that she had spent hours with her crush?

Why?

She sighed as she slipped her phone down her pocket. Everything happened for a reason, even though she had not quite figured why this was happening.

She quickly brushed the thought away immediately she stepped into Amigo. She had Luke and he was just as precious to her. And he would have to listen to her rantings tonight, again.

____

She had maths class first. Quite a great way to start the morning. Weirdly, it seemed easier- courtesy of Daniel's tutoring.

She had English next. She had always loved English and have always been blessed with the nicest English teachers.

She rushed to her locker to empty her backpack threatening to break her back. She couldn't do any of her homework yesterday so now had a heap of them to do.

She emptied her backpack, filling it with homework as she headed to the library.

"Elena!" A voice screamed her name, immediately recognizing it to be June's.

She sighed and turned. "Hey June. What's up?"

"Hey June what's up? Really Elena?" She yelled moving closer. "What's up with you?"

Elena served her a blank stare.

"We barely hangout like we used to. You don't call me, you don't text me either!" She yelled.

"You don't call or text me either," she said in defense, not knowing where that came from.

"Damn girl," she muttered. "I hate you so much right now."

False.

She still managed to smile. "I'm sorry. I've been quite busy. School, stress and all."

"Mmm," she hummed. "I'm always here if you want to talk."

True.

"Sure," she replied pulling her into a hug.

"I missed you." Elena said but it came out in almost a whisper. She had missed her best friend.
