CHAPTER ELEVEN

Daniel: Asleep already?

Elena woke up to a splitting headache and an unread message from Daniel. She rolled on her bed, grabbing her phone, as she swiped it unlock.

Elena: Hey, Good morning.

Damn, a hundred soldiers marching in her head.

She tossed her phone after checking the time. 7:02am. She rolled in bed, again.

"Elena, get up," her roommate tap her. "You'll be late for prayers."

"If the sisters notice I'm not at prayers, tell them I have a terrible headache so I can't get out of bed."

"Okay," she replied, getting up from Elena's bed. "You've used meds?"

"Nah, I'm good."

Elena watched all her roommates leave the room one after the other, finally shutting the door. Her phone beeped again, as she sluggishly took it.

Daniel: Good morning. How are you? How was yesterday's party?

She sat up.

Elena: *sighs* Twas crazy.

Honestly though, yesterday was crazy for her.

Luke: Ofc, I saw your vid. Quite a stunt you pulled out eh

Elena: Don't remind mee. I swear I only drank just a little.

Daniel: Right. So what's up?

Elena: Just sitting in bed accompanied with a terrible headache. How's Sweden?

Daniel: Headache? Hangover?

Elena: I doubt.

Daniel: Used drugs?

Elena: I'm good. How's Sweden?

Daniel: At least stop staring at screens. Just rest your eyes, sleep.

Elena: No.

Daniel: If you really want to talk to me, I can always call.

Elena: Lmao. No thanks.

Daniel: Ttyl. Gotta go now.

Elena: Okay.

"Elenaaaaa!"

"Whattttttt," Elena drawled sleepily. She rubbed her eyes, sitting up.

"You've been sleeping for hours!" She yelled making Elena wince. Her eyes met her roommates' staring at her.

"Really?" Elena quickly stood up, checking the wall clock. "Shoot."

"Yeah. How's your headache?"

"Oh, it's all gone," she replied, grabbing her flip-flops.

"Luke's outside waiting for you," her roommate finally said, taking her leave. "He has been freaking out since you skipped breakfast."

"Okay," she dropped her bathroom purse and went outside. Her eyes scanned the corridor, searching for him. Of course, he couldn't be there- males weren't allowed in.

She groaned as she climbed the stairs leading downstairs. She stepped out of the dorm, searching for him.

"Elena!" she heard Luke call her name.

"Heyyy-"

"Are you crazy?" he yelled. "Do you really want to die?! You went to that lame party, got drunk and stayed in your room all day skipping meals. Do you want to starve to death?"

Elena laughed."Hey, I slept off okay? I had a terrible headache and ended up sleeping for so long."

Luke seemed to calm down. "Sleeping so much wouldn't make you prettier, you know that right?"

"Maybe."

"Let's go," he grabbed her hands. "Let's go eat something delicious."

"Aw, Luke," she pouted. "I haven't even brushed my teeth. Let me freshen up first."

"Ayy," he said, letting go of her hand. "Don't take too long."

"I'll be back in a sec."

---

"What can I get you?" The waitress asked, smiling. She seemed like an high school student as she occasionally sneaked flirty glances at Luke, twirling her hair with her fingers.

Elena placed her order, Luke ordering the same in larger portions. She toyed with her fingers as they waited for their food.

"So, is June's boyfriend sexy?"

"I guess," Elena replied, honestly. "I didn't really see him though."

"How did it all happen?"

"I was at the party. We were hanging out. She told me that Harry wanted to talk to me but I should take a quick picture of her first. Then, I saw text messages from two numbers- one asking to meet her. She nervously left the party and I followed her. And low and behold, I met her boyfriend."

"You sound disappointed."

"Well, I am disappointed," Elena said, her voice going a little higher. "I know you said I should get used to her lies and all but still I can't help it. We promised to be the first to know if any of us got a boyfriend."

Luke took her hands in his. "June, what are you?"

"A puzzle."

"It'll be okay. The truth will find its way out," he said.

"I guess," she replied, immediately spotting the waitress. "Our food is here."

"Can I get you anything else?" The waitress asked, smiling.

"No, we're good," Luke winked.

"She's flirting with you."

"I like the attention," he smiled.

True.

"I don't like her."

"Who's Harry?"

"Ivy's big brother."

"Is he-"

"Yes, he's hot."

Luke arched an eyebrow. "Is he in your grade?"

"Oh," Elena laughed. "No, he's in his final year."

"Luke I tell you everything about my school," Elena frowned. "But I don't know anything about your school."

"There's nothing to tell," he replied, stuffing his mouth.

"Is there a girl you like?"

"Is there?"

"C'mon," Elena whined. "You know you can't lie to me."

"The girl I like likes someone else," he said, stuffing his mouth again.

True.

"Aw, why will she like someone else when you're here," Elena said, searching for an expression from his face. "That's her luck. She lost you and I bet she doesn't even deserve you."

"You didn't believe me, did you?" Luke laughed. "I don't like anyone."

False.

"Luke you-"

"Eat up!" he yelled. "You've got tests tomorrow, forgotten? You don't plan on disgracing me, do you? Let's go study."

"I'm not dumb, Luke," Elena smirked. "I'm kicking maths butt tomorrow."

---

Elena shut the door behind her as she entered her room. She met Luke again after dinner and just wanted to study.

She sat on her bed, pulling her backpack towards her. She emptied it, picking her textbook and a pen.

Her phone beeped.

Daniel: Hey.

She smiled as she texted back.

Elena: Hey. What's up?

Daniel: I'm exhausted. Just got back

Elena: Right. How was your trip?

Daniel: Funnnn.

Elena: Aw, I'm glad.

Daniel: Yh. I better go now. I bet you were studying and I was distracting you.

As true as it was, Elena just wouldn't admit it.

Her fingers danced on her keypad, as she pondered on what to reply.

Daniel: Good night and Good luck!

Oh, he had replied.

Elena: Same to you:)

She finally dropped her phone, grinning like an idiot. Was the smiling emoji she added too much? Did she go overboard? What if it irritated him?

She brushed the thoughts away from her mind, picking a textbook.

Her phone beeped again. A smile appeared on her face as she slowly picked it up again.

Bestiee❤: Still up?

Her smiling face immediately changed. She dropped her phone, promising herself not to pick it again.

She sighed, opening her textbook.
