Chapter 31: Bigger Steps
Ruby was shocked and disappointed in herself. How could she have been so gullible as to believe that the chocolates were just from one of the usual passengers? She immediately threw the chocolates into the trash can and sat down on the bed, trying to focus. The box of chocolates arrived on the ship before her, which meant that Severin was very meticulous in his planning. He made doubly sure that she would get every message from him.
Well, I will be just as persistent as he is, Ruby swore to herself.
So she commited herself to perfecting her new songs, rather than to anticipate new advances from Severin. She sang with her heart and soul.
“Are you very excited about your upcoming CD recording?” Revel asked when he found Ruby and Lilah busy painting their toenails on the deck, one sunny afternoon.
“Yes, I am,” Ruby responded with a smile. “But I would also have loved to go on the trip when you guys are going to perform at the Sydney Opera House,” she declared.
