Chapter 15: Ruined Illusions
What does Marion want now? Ruby wondered irritably.
Ruby and Severin waited for Marion to catch up with them. “Where are you guys off to?” Marion asked as soon as she reached them. “Oh hi there,” she said to Severin, as an afterthought.
“Marion, this is my friend, Severin,” Ruby said between tight lips. “This is a friend from home,” she said to Severin, feeling the bitter taste of calling Marion a friend.
“Oh, pleased to meet you, Marion,” Severin responded and shook hands with the girl. He took Ruby’s hand again as they walked on. “I assumed you were on your own, Ruby” he said with a curious smile.
“I did not know that Marion was on the ship. I found out just a while ago myself,” Ruby said with a sarcastic smile in Marion’s direction.
“Hello signor Castrello!” a man from across the street shouted. He hurried over and gave Severin a big hug.
