VARIEGATED PLUMAGE

Alexa had been doing some research for a few weeks and hadn't gotten her anywhere till an accident helped her make a massive breakthrough on the studies of lights.

She named it a Booster Gene.

They were genes which made the enlightened gene of a person to grow in level faster than normal.

That was the reason my whole family always got to such high levels so fast, not just raw talent.

These genes weren't enlightened, so having two enlightened alleles of different kinds upgrading each other didn't count.

Rather, this gene made your level up faster, and helped you develop functional skills with your light faster, similar to having multiple lights.

This gene was responsible for lactic acid anaerobic respiration, where it made large amounts of lactic acid in a person's tissue.

In normal people this could be painful if not life threatening like after one having an intense workout, but in enlightened people, it was beneficial.

This effect also had the ability to monumentally increase one's chances of giving birth to Multi Humans which was probably why there were so many Multi Humans in my family with more on the way.

The Booster Gene was also rare and a combination between it and an enlightened gene or even two was exceptionally rare, that's how I was able to bypass Franklin's level after training for one night.

All of this research didn't prepare Alexa for this.

She ran to our mom then held her hair in her hands...it was white.

It started white at the top then made a gradual gradient to royal blue at the bottom.

The gradient wasn't balanced, with the border being higher up the closer the hair was to her face and lower down the closer to her back.

The hair on her forehead was also different because it was all pale ice blue with the bottom turning clear aquamarine.

Her eye brows and lashes were also ice blue.

Her irises on the other hand, were pure white with pale blue patches and a blue centre which radiated through the white.

She didn't seem harmed and there didn't seem to be any more differences but Alexa just needed to make sure.

She ran all sorts of tests on our mother but found nothing worrying, she just needed to find out why that happened.

She did lots of research and conducted many experiments with her hair, pondering the questions of how the dead keratinous cells of my mom's hair changed colour or how they got a rare hemocyanin blue pigment.

She was able to find out it was due to a pigment and not a structural colorization like Ice Iridescence and even though we all felt she was fine, even Lilith, Alexa wouldn't give up.

Till one day, she jumped up on the dinner table then murmured silently to herself for a few seconds, ran then hugged my mom before running out of the room with a string of her coloured hair with her.

I went to check up on her and saw her running some tests on my mom's hair and urine.

I then said,"Okay Alexa at first it was cute but now it's just getting weird, you have to stop."

"No I just found out why mom's hair changed colour, it's the baby."She said.

I looked at her with an indifferent expression then she said,"I've found traces of hemocyanin proteins in her urine samples alongside her other hormonal discharges."

"So you're basically saying your brother is an anthropod."I said.

"What? No. It's totally different from that, his lights may be changing her hair colour to match their colours, I found out that lights are actually polygenic traits with one gene responsible for the light and another for the eye colour it determines, it's possible that this is something similar, just rarer. Maybe the gene that caused this is recessive but the presence of our brother caused it to manifest in mom, but I still need time for research."She continued.

I shrugged my shoulders then left and told everyone she'd be eating dinner in her room.

The next day Curtis was training alone with several drones placed all around the large room with sniper accuracy and real bullets.

It began then he started running forward then dived to dodge the bullets and landed with a handstand, making four oval shaped portals appear before twelve of the drones and redirecting their bullets to twelve others, with the exit portals rapidly rotating in all axes as he did a flare.

He jumped to his feet then swiped his arm and a portal which looked like a rip in a fabric followed the movement of his arm and swallowed up more of the bullets, right before shooting them out to some of the other drones.

Flying drones took to the sky then started flying towards and shooting at him.

He ran then jumped and swung off the handle of one of them then kicked another and held it then in an instant, it became two dimensional yet still operational.

The spaces in the middle caused it to disintegrate but he held the largest piece which was the octagonal motherboard.

He was an expert in Dimensional Swap, one of the most dangerous and versatile Teleporter skills where they actually had the ability to manipulate the number of dimensions an object appeared in by passing it through the space between spaces.

They had the ability to make objects appear in any combination of the three space dimensions; length, breadth and height and manipulate them as if they were three dimensional.

He held the one molecule thick drone which was sharper than any natural or scientifically made object, then flung it and it sliced right through three drones.

He then opened a portal from Mount Washington and a strong 190km/h wind blew all the flying drones away, making them crash into each other and explode.

He then opened a Grey Hole and caused lava to pour out with great pressure in all directions and it melted several of the drones.

Though there were few left, he had to destroy them otherwise they'd keep coming.

He then swiped his arm then a portal appeared near the drones and moved over them and engulfed them, leaving them in the space between spaces then he closed it when it was halfway through the last one, which was sliced in two.

He wiped the sweat off his forehead then shrugged and then held a metal pipe from one of the drones and made about a fifth of its length one dimensional, making it like an extremely thin and sharp two bladed katana.

Two bladed since the single hole in the pipe divided it until the handle which he didn't teleport.

Then he used the sword to slice right through a pathetic drone behind him which just didn't know went to quit, then he walked away.
