Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

THE MULTI JET

The duel came and I won, it was quite easy with my new found ability to fly. My mark screen was updated and I had one more win up my sleeve.

Which meant I had been in three duels, won two and tied one.

My roommates were jubilant with me and they carried me on their shoulders.

I then saw a figure walking away from the stands.

I recognized him as my dad but realized as he walked away, he held his side in pain and limped.

I told the others I'd meet them for ice cream later then followed up.

He was quite far so I ran and slid, making the floor more slippery by using moving water then stopped behind him.

I knew he knew I was there since he probably had a water vision, and it was probably much better than mine, but he didn't stop walking.

I took a deep breath and said,"Dad..."

"Don't call me that."He said in a low tone.

"... okay, but, thanks for coming to see my match, did I make you proud?"I asked eagerly.

"All you did was embarrass someone else and ruin their self esteem."He said flatly.

"Oh right, I never thought of it that way...but you seem hurt, maybe I could get you a doctor."I said.

"I'm fine."

"But you're limping."

"Leave."

"But dad..."

"I said don't call me that!"

Suddenly he lost his temper and and a spinning donut of water exploded from him and hit me several meters back.

I fell and rolled backwards and cried in pain.

He looked at me when he realized what he had done with a look I had never seen in his eyes, a look of worry.

He then said,"Felix, I..."

I was scared and yelled,"Leave me alone!"

Then I ran away.

The pain I felt on the outside was nothing compared to the pain in my heart.

I cried myself to sleep that night and many nights after that.

I missed my mom and brother more than ever.

I stopped training and going to school, I just lay on my bed, shedding tears.

I talked to no one and became my old, antisocial self.

That went on for about a week and a half till I realized...

' He was never there for me, and he clearly doesn't care about me, why should I listen to him? No, rather I'll be the best light possessor of all and put him to shame. ' I realized.

From then on, I continued training and was more serious than ever, I didn't train more intensely, but concentrated more and my level slowly got higher.

I was in light class one morning as that was always the first subject.

The teacher threw a question to his four students, that what type of light was teleportation.

The three of us raised our hands and he picked Nikki Zoloft.

She stood up and said,"Mantter, because they enable matter to travel from place to place spontaneously."

"Wrong."

Everyone looked at me and the teacher asked me to explain my answer.

I stood up and said,"It is true that teleporters move matter from place to place, but they do it by splitting up the matter and reassembling it in the other location without any catastrophic effects by spontaneously transporting them through the Space between spaces, or by creating rifts in the space- time continuum using exotic matter to counter the balancing effects of gravity, to make a doorway from one place to an entirely different one, without making any actual connection between them and these two processes change energy from one form to another and consume a lot of energy respectively, therefore, since they are able to manipulate the two basic components of our universe, namely matter and energy to an equal extent, it is only fair that they are placed under both categories."

Everyone was stunned but the teacher knew I had a point, then he asked,"How did you find out?"

"I analyzed how their brightness works and found a flaw in the categorization of teleportation and simply revealed my hypothesis to you."I said.

' This is a seven year old? ' The teacher wondered.

I resumed my seat and thought,' He doesn't want me to win duels? Then I'm going to win duels. '

I raised my hand and the teacher said I should speak. I said,"I want to challenge Nikki to a duel."

Everyone was surprised as he said,"Are you sure, she's two sublevels higher than you. I don't think you're ready."

"Oh I know I'm ready, ready to win."I said.

She looked at me and said,"Your overconfidence is going to get you some trouble, kid."

I just smiled and said,"And your underconfidence shows you're scared of getting your butt kicked."

She frowned and said,"I accept, Friday at 7 pm."

I grinned.

I trained hard after that, but not the kind of training you might think. I was multi tasking.

Drawing different numerals and letters with different limbs, drawing with one hand and writing with the other, I was going to nail that move.

I stood in the sports field and jumped then blasted water out of both my hands and feet and controlled the jets of water individually.

It took a few tries before I was able to hit the dummy from different angles, but I nailed it soon enough.

I named the move, the multi jet.

That Friday night came up and the seats were packed this time, mostly because of the duel between the most powerful guy in school; Adrian Johnson and a girl slightly older than him.

The duel was a few minutes after ours but the people came early.

I took my stand and knew exactly what to do.

She smirked at me, clearly thinking I wasn't going to be a challenge and I was going to use that.

The referee blew the whistle and she condensed chlorine gas in her hand.

She was either a Non Metalass(control atoms that form negative ions) or a Hurricane Lass(they control air).

She blasted the chlorine at me and I jumped and shot water down to fly, then blasted four jets of water out of my hands and legs.

I landed and manipulated them separately, two with each hand.

The first two attacked her head and she blasted them with wind but got distracted and the other two hit her back.

She fell next to the edge and got mad.

She blew a strong gust of wind at me and I blasted water at it to cover myself.

I then realized I could multi task, so with one hand, I blocked the attack and with the other, I condensed all the water in the air around her head.

She struggled for breath and the gust stopped blowing.

I sensed more water filled air diffusing to her head and condensed that water too, I needed her to give up.

The crowd was actually surprised at how a young child like this was winning a duel against someone more than twice his age.

I knew she wasn't going to give up so I used a new skill.

I controlled the water in her lungs to make them beat even faster, making her inhale more dry air and suffer more.

She then gave up and I stopped.

The crowd went wild and I went to sit down on a bench, the teacher was exceptionally surprised and thought, ' He will be perfect for project A. '
