Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

THE DUEL 2

I yelled as my hand caught his fist, mere centimetres from my nose.

He was confused and I twisted it and he yelled in pain then I did a kip up and gave him a palm strike which shot him five meters away onto his back.

He coughed and looked at me as I literally had smoke coming out of my nose.

I shot a white, turbulent jet of water at him and he made a cross with his arms and it immediately evaporated.

He stood up and we looked into each others' eyes, then charged at each other.

We both shot fists at each other, his on fire and mine in white water then there was a loud bang and a deadly smirk came across my face while our fists were in contact.

Just then, I fell to my knees and he did too and we both collapsed.

I woke up on life support and groaned when I saw my roommates.

I said,"I'm an idiot! I let my emotions get the best of me."

Jason said,"Don't beat yourself up, you were in danger. Neither of you won."

I was heartbroken.

I needed to win.

I said with teary eyes,"But he fainted first."

Cody said,"But the rules say only by submission or by getting your opponent out of the ring can you win."

"Look on the bright side..."Junior said,"...at least...uh...yeah, there is no bright side."

I covered my face with the pillow and sensed two blobs appearing (entering my five metre range) and heard them tell my roommates to leave.

I looked at them and saw one was a sweet looking woman and the other was a plump man.

The woman said,"We saw your duel Felix."

I nodded disappointedly then she continued,"And your performance was good enough to get you into class 1."

I gasped within the mask and asked,"Really?"

She nodded and the man said,"Congratulations kid, you did great."

I smiled and when my roommates came back in, I told them the news and they looked at each other and said,"We're going to have to intensify your training."

I didn't know whether to be happy that I was going to level up faster, or to be scared of what I had ahead.

When I was discharged, I went immediately to the principal and she was delighted to see me.

"Felix, how can I help you?"She asked.

"Umm, I was wondering if you could help me see someone."I said while fidgeting with my fingers.

She said,"I will most certainly try my best."

I smiled at her.

I walked to the tall man and he asked,"What do you want?"

I felt my heart sink as his voice alone was intimidating, but he still was my father. I took a deep breath and said,"I just wanted to tell you that I've graduated to class 1."

"So?"He asked flatly.

"...so, um, I just wanted to tell you..."I began.

He interrupted me and said,"Phyllis, if this is why you called me, then I'm leaving, I have better things to do."

Then he turned around and left.

My eyes welled up with tears and I hiccuped then the principal came to my back and apologized.

I ran into her arms and cried.

I was sobbing on my bed and didn't want to talk to anyone.

' I want my mom! Why is my dad like this? ' I thought to myself.

I then sat up after crying for two hours and said to myself,"Stop crying, your mother loves you, time to make her proud..."

From that day, I was more serious than ever.

I trained harder, learned harder, was more determined to meet my mom and brother one day.

I even convinced my roommates to amp up my training even more, they started teaching me things they were learning and I became a prodigy.

I also realized changes, now, I only felt sleepy after I had done training, not all the time, I could also fall asleep for the whole weekend, even if I wasn't tired.

I also got more control over my emotions and my light was slowly getting stronger.

I ended up becoming the youngest student in class 1 and the one with the fastest power up.

I started learning gymnastics and free running with Junior and started using it to strengthen my light even more.

I also learned how to use my light to make my body stronger and faster, by controlling the water in my body, I could back up my movements with the movement of water, increasing the speed by up to 23% and strength by up to 30.

I was training with Cody one day and he told me to make a cartwheel roundoff to a double back handspring then a back flip and a two legged kick while I was still in the air, all in sync with a jet of laminar water.

Blasting it with the kick to a metal wall with sensors which could detect the pressure of the water.

The whole routine was to add force to and accelerate the water.

I did the cartwheel but it was difficult as the water was rising up from the bucket against gravity.

When I got myself in the descent, it was difficult to control as the water was accelerated due to gravity and making my legs descend too fast.

I was already used to this sudden gradient in kinetic energy so I nailed the landing and the water splashed on the floor, then every single drop which dispersed gathered together and raised again in an air bubble filled tube when I began the first back handspring.

I had to use my water super strength in my legs to jump harder since the water resisted my movements.

I was able to land on my hands and the water splashed again and raised again on my second back handspring with even more bubbles.

I landed on my feet and the water was speeding up, then I did the back flip and the water rotated like a clear donut, gathering speed in a small distance, then I did the kick and the white, turbulent water shot straight at the detector from the top of the circle and I landed.

"Yes! I nailed it on my first try!"I yelled.

Cody clapped for me and I made the water that had splashed on me to scatter then we checked the reading, 32.8 psi of pressure.

Cody was surprised at how high the pressure was on my first success and decided I took it to a larger scale.

I stood by the Olympic sized swimming pool and did the move. Using the water in my body to speed and strengthen me.

The arc started small, at a radius of my height, then splashed, making bubbles, but with each moment, the radius increased, the jet of water was slightly more and the bubbles were more and deeper in the pool, then I blasted it and I got a whopping 76.8 psi, far greater than I expected.

We named the move The Kick Arc Blast.

I kept practicing the Kick Arc Blast to perfect it and was able to use it in my next duel.

It shot the person two meters back and they landed out of the circle.

The boy was surprised at the six year old he underestimated.
