SQUEAKERS

"I'm gonna get you!"I yelled.

Alex squealed as I chased after him.

This event was a few years after my dad was healed.

I opened the room door and switched on the light. I already knew where he was due to my water vision but pretended not to.

He was giggling from behind the curtain and took a look to see where I was, I was gone.

"Boo!"I yelled.

He squealed when I appeared behind him then I began tickling him as he laughed.

He then stopped laughing and I looked at him, concerned.

"What's wrong?"I asked.

"I wish I could have a light, like you and dad."

"But you already have one."

"No I don't, if I did, I'd be able to control or breathe in water like you guys."

I turned him to face myself then said,"Alex, you have amazing potential, maybe more than myself, you just have to see that. You do have a light, that's why your eyes are blue, it just has to be activated."

"Like when you fell into the lake?"

"Exactly, now, maybe we could sneak you a few of Aunt Linda's cupcakes."

He smiled as I hydroteleported us into the kitchen.

My mom was braiding Alexa's hair when she said,"I miss dad."

"Oh baby, he'll be back soon."

"I wish I could have a light."

My mom was silent for a few seconds. She knew Alexa was her only child born without a chance of getting a light, so she was determined to make her feel happy.

After thinking for a while, she said,"Having a light isn't the only thing that makes you special."

"But it makes you cool."

"It may, but you could make yourself cooler."

Alexa looked into her eyes, then hugged her.

Just then my dad appeared and yelled,"I'm back!"

Alexa widened her eyes and Alex stuffed one more cupcake into his mouth before running to our dad.

They hugged him and he intentionally toppled over as they yelled about how they had missed him in the month he had been away.

I licked my fingers and walked towards him as he tickled them.

He then said,"Guess what I got you."

They were even more excited as he snapped his fingers making a mountain of presents fall down.

They ran into them to unwrap them which took almost an hour.

My mom went to him and said,"Isn't that a little too many presents?"

"Aww, come on, you used to spoil Alex and Felix all the same."

She shrugged her shoulders then Alexa screamed. We looked at my dad who had a smug smile on his face and I already knew why.

Alexa brought out a small, fuzzy monster.

It looked round and was covered with a thick coat of white fur.

It had four short paws at the bottom of its sphere shaped body and its ears were like those of a dog.

It had a small, pink nose without a muzzle and a cartoon cat mouth.

Its eyes were adorably big, with huge black pupils, its blue irises were almost invisible.

It made a squeaky sound which sounded like a squeaky toy, when it was squeezed, but had a high pitched barking sound, more like a Chihuahua puppy.

Alex also rushed to it and snatched it from his sister who seemed saddened.

My mom frowned and was about to speak when my dad said,"Aww, honey, they're just kids, he'll grow out of it."

My mom sighed but held her peace.

Alex accidentally dropped the monster and it bounced like a ball, right before stars, made of ice started floating around its head.

Alex looked at my dad who said,"It's an H 2 Order."

Alex squealed and picked it up then ran around with it, totally ignoring Alexa and the rest of the presents.

My dad stopped smiling when he saw my mom's frown.

"An enlightened pet?"My mom asked.

"I thought it would be good for them."My dad answered.

"So you didn't think of the fact that we are still trying to make Alexa feel good about herself even when she doesn't have a light, then you give her an animal..."

"Protozoa."

"Whatever! That has a light?! How do you think that will make her feel? You didn't think about that, did you?"She asked.

He was silent.

"I can't believe you'd forget about your own daughter like that!"

"I just wanted to make them happy."

"Well then think the next time you want to make them ' happy '."

"Mom, dad?"

They looked at Alexa who was fidgeting with her fingers. She then said with tears welling up in her eyes,"I don't want you to fight because of me."

"Aww, we're not fighting because of you, it's just... adult stuff."My mom said, placing her on her lap.

"Are you going to take Squeakers away?"She asked.

My mom was silent till my dad said,"No, we aren't."

My mom frowned at him and he shrugged his shoulders.

Alexa then closed her eyes and placed her head on my mom's chest, then dozed off.

"Good night baby."My dad said.

He kissed her and carried her to the door.

"We aren't done yet Andrew."My mom said.

He nodded.

My dad placed her on her bed and sensed something wrong.

' Alex! ' He yelled to himself.

He hydroteleported to the pool and made a spike wave to shoot his son out of the freezing water.

Alex landed in his arms and he was scared as he removed the water from his lungs.

Alex's eyes fluttered open then my dad hugged him, not knowing what he'd do if his son was hurt. Alex then asked in a weak voice,"Is my light activated yet?"

My dad couldn't speak.

"See what I was talking about?!"

"Honey, calm down."

"Calm down?! Our son just tried to kill himself, because of all that nonsense you've been stuffing into his head!"

He sighed as she said,"If anything happens to any of my children because of you, I will never forgive you."

She lay down and switched off the light at her side.

I woke up and got ready the next morning then went down to see Alexa ready for school, but Alex was nowhere to be found.

I sensed him still in bed, with my parents sitting by him. Something was wrong...

I ran to the room, followed by Alexa and Squeakers.

The moment I got in, my dad met me with a smile.

I asked what was wrong then he gestured to Alex who had bags under his eyes.

He rubbed his eyes and I immediately knew what was wrong, his light had been activated...
