Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

LIFE AND DEATH

"Has Jesus Christ come again?"Asked the newscaster,"... because people all around the country and the world are announcing the return of their loved ones from the grave and the sudden and gruesome deaths of several people are being reported, hospitals and morgues are alternating between being filled to the brim and being a ghost town, this is Kofi Adepa Mensah Sarp..."

We switched off the channel, the rest of his twelve names were annoying.

"Are you my brother?"Alek asked Alex.

Alex looked at Indigo who nodded, then smiled at Alek and nodded at him saying,"You are so cute!"

Alek then pounced on him and yelled,"I have another big brother! Another brother! Yay!!"

Alex was yelling for help as my mother smiled, being held on her feet by both her husbands.

The rest of us were talking to each other then looked at Alex as he tried crawling to safety then was dragged back by the inhumanely strong child then said,"He'll be perfect to look after the kids."

When we the adults were alone, my dad asked,"Okay how on Earth are we alive?"

"Beats me."Trevor said.

"I think he can explain it."Alex said.

Chief Nadula walked in then my eyes filled with rage as I pinned him to a wall, trying to choke him as he yelled,"Get your disgusting appendages off of me, you sluggish lowlife!"

"Well this sluggish lowlife is going to choke the black soul out of you!"I yelled.

Indigo said,"Felix calm down, we've been over this, he's on our side."

I still punched him across the face for good measure before leaving him as he explained everything.

"So if you and your brother are some anonymous celestial beings who gave us all our lights and have every possibly existing light and darkness, why can't you tell where the spirits of life and death are?"Apollo asked.

"I'm just basically better than all of you in every way which limits the precision of my senses, take it like trying to hack a beeper or a walkie talkie, Alex on the other hand, has the power to go global and the simple mind to find them in their human manifestations."He said.

Alex was obviously offended as he asked,"So how am I supposed to find them? What am I even looking for?"

"Death's dead and life's alive."Chief Nadula said as a matter of factly.

"Wow really? Thank you for the heads-up, now I can individually search for every dead body in the morgue, cemetery or even in a coma and viola, I've found her."Alex said sarcastically.

Chief Nadula frowned then asked,"Can I kill him now?"

"Alex, my son, this is not the time to joke, please, think, how will a dead body cause all this damage and look for that."My dad said.

Alex nodded then closed his eyes for a second and said,"I found them..."

***

Twelve years ago...

In a community, there was so much pandemonium as people had food scarcities due to the strict military curfews, people were mobbing soldiers and each other, raiding stores just to get food and car accidents were on the rise with bloody crashes happening between vehicles and pedestrians.

A woman with messy hair shivered as she walked with a baby in her arms and a car ran into her, buckling and flying over as the woman was mangled with the small infant.

The woman crawled to her child then picked her up and stood up again on her mangled legs and continued walking with her bloodshot eyes.

Some muggers tried to attack her for money but the baby began to cry then bolts of lightning struck each of them down, most of them died instantly, leaving two.

The mother picked up a knife and was about to finish the job when the child said,"No mother, it's not their time."

There was a bang as blood spluttered from her belly from a cop who shot her.

She turned to face him then the baby said,"But it is her's."

The woman started walking to the cop who started shooting at the zombies walking to her and began to lose hope and a blood curdling scream was let out as the cop was torn apart by the woman's bare hands.

The baby then got down to the floor and the moment she landed, she aged by about three years, with all her wounds healing, but her eyes keeping their bloodshot appearance.

Her mother was also morphed as the child looked at a nearby school then said,"Some people are going to die tomorrow..."

The next day, the principal saw a beautiful woman bring a child of about four of age to admit to the nursery.

The child looked healthy, other than the veins bulging on her forehead and neck and her red eyes.

The principal had been a little scared recently of the events at their side of the city and had wanted to leave but the military isolated them, because of the strange events, people had been shot to death because they tried to cross the border without authority, she didn't want to be one of them.

She also couldn't stay in the safety of her home as she needed money to buy food for her family of three that she even wanted to abandon, the dead weight of her three children gave her the stress of wondering if something happened to them during the day, her husband had left and he was now living in the paradise like North East of the city with his new family.

The woman asked,"Are you listening?"

The principal gulped, she had been lost in thought.

The girl's mother knew exactly what thoughts the principal had as her mind was basically an extension of her daughter's, so she wanted to kill the principal there and then but the girl said,"Not yet, her family needs her."

The girl was admitted to a classroom among... children, none of them were supposed to die yet so the girl stayed away, she wanted to be in the next classroom where a boy was supposed to break his neck, yes, she could do it from a distance but she preferred to personally make sure the job was done.

Her mother on the other hand didn't want to leave her side, even though she was walking, she was dead and only thought what her daughter made her think, only rarely could her original emotions like anger take control and will come spontaneously but even then, she needed to be near the girl before losing her mind and staying dead.

A teacher was teaching them the alphabet but the girl knew she was wasting her time, she had to get that boy but more importantly, Life.

She just looked around and stood up, walking right out of the classroom.

She walked with an emotionless expression as a teacher rushed out of his classroom to go to the bathroom because of food poisoning caused by the girl, he wasn't to die, but that had to happen.

She got to the window where the teacher was absent and the children were out of whack, she looked at all the children, she actually wished she could be like them, without a care in the world, not even the day of their death.

There was one kid she didn't even consider, a timid child who kept to himself in a corner.

She pointed at Micah, which was the boy's name, then he fell off the teacher's desk, headfirst onto the floor and snapping his neck.

When the girl's job was done, she left, not being seen by any child as she was invisible and they were all confused by why the boy was asleep so suddenly, but Peter, the boy in the corner, he saw everything...

The boy's father came to pick him up from school where his two year old son had gotten a perfect score in an exam for fifth graders.

Homer was so proud of his son, a gift from God.

It seemed like everywhere he went, good things happened.

He had wanted to name his son after his mother, but the little boy insisted he be called Life which was a strange name to give to a kid whose sister and mother just died the day before but since the child could talk, he could choose.

Life looked at a place past the border where soldiers were beating a man but he changed their hearts to let him go and healed the man.

The man was a drunk driver but he didn't deserve that, neither did he deserve to be alcohol addicted, but he only did so because his girlfriend left him, so Life made her come back to him and they were happy.

He also realized a lot of places death had ruined, why couldn't that girl just stay dead?

He hated her with every fibre of his being, look at all the pain she caused, he had to bring her to life as that would totally remove the Spirit from her and restore order and peace to her body and the world.

Of course he couldn't tell anyone of his mission, but he knew he was going to have to win over death no matter what since that would make him rule over the multiverse for another thousand years, even though the Spirit will leave him and he'd squash the next incarnation of Death like the bug it was.

The last three times he had won and just wondered why she just wouldn't give up, she wasn't going to win their battle again.

At recess, a boy walked over to the girl then asked,"Why do you look so weird?"

"Because I am the sixth reincarnation of the Spirit of death, darkness and pure chaos."She said plainly.

He seemed a little scared, but by her own command, he yelled,"Hey everyone! This girl's a ghost!"

All the children screamed and ran around and the girl grinned to herself, how she loved the sight of chaos.
