Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

I'M IN THE BALL GAME 1

I went to take a shower shortly after that and looked in the mirror for the first time in a while.

I now saw why everyone said I was so cute. I was. So much so that I felt subconscious.

I then looked at my short hair which had been cut about three days ago, then thought,"I think a change in my look will be nice, why don't I let my hair grow?"

So I decided to.

I continued practicing from that day and the Green Thumb skill got a lot stronger, it still wasn't very useful in battle, but could do a lot more now.

I also realized that I could make as many different sound frequencies at the same time as I wanted to with my Hydro Boom, as long as I did it with my mouth, as I could make different frequencies at the same time with my voice, though using my appendages like hands and feet could make far greater amplitudes, it took great multitasking skills to make several frequencies with my hands and feet.

I also realized that I moved up a level to the hundredth power, once every month on average, which was quite fast.

I continued training Frankie as I liked to call Franklin, I knew he didn't like it, that's why I persisted.

The teacher makes the rules, the student follows them.

A few months after my last duel with the Teleporter, I was reading a book in my room when Junior got up to leave. I already knew he was going for Power ball practice as he had been in the Franklin house team for a few weeks and loved it.

Power ball was a game played on a pitch which had to be at least 400×150 m in area.

The goal was to take the carbon fiber ball from one's end of the pitch to the goal post on the other side.

The goal consisted of three concentric circles, each half the diameter of the other.

The first circle was 2 m in diameter and scoring in it gave one's team 5 points.

The second circle was a single metre in diameter and gave one 10 points.

The final and smallest circle was half a metre in diameter and gave one's team 20 points when scored in.

The rules allowed one to use their light in any way that would help them to win, including offending opponents, defending against opponents and scoring the opponents. That was why the ball was made of carbon fiber, to be soft, light weight and strong enough to withstand the wear and tear of all lights.

Each team consisted of six members.

Three attackers(who were also able to score), two defenders(who were not permitted or advised to score, though they still could) and one goalie (quite self explanatory.)

I went to watch him practice and he wasn't bad at all, in fact, he was good.

His ability to manipulate forces gave him an upper hand at offence, defense and goal protection.

After practice, I was about to leave when I saw they had left one of the balls.

I went to pick it up and looked in the direction of the concentric circles to the right.

I placed the ball down and took a deep breath then did a back handspring and a geyser erupted below the ball, imitating my movement.

The ball flew about three meters into the air and I did a four second flare when the ball fell, kicking it up with every movement of my legs then I spun on my hands and kicked it several meters into the air.

I landed on my feet and strengthened my arm to make it able to Hydroteleport more water at a greater pressure then blasted the ball, hard, when it came low enough.

It flew several meters into the smallest circle and I jumped for joy as it glowed gold.

I sensed before hearing clapping from behind me and looked at the coach, who had been standing out of my water vision range for who knows how long.

I began to get subconscious as he walked closer.

He stood right next to me and said,"I believe you're the kid who's been winning all the duels, am I wrong?"

I shook my head then he continued,"You really have potential, would you like to join the Power ball team for Franklin house?"

I hadn't even considered this since I thought I was too young and too low a level, but he was asking me, at that moment, and it wasn't a dream.

From the corner of my eye, I could see Junior giving me two thumbs ups and looking at me expectantly, so I said,"Sure, why not?"

"Great, practice begins at this same time, tomorrow."He said.

Junior was super excited and I could tell by his faster heart rate.

He was telling me about all the pros of being in the Power ball team, somehow like I wanted to quit.

I just decided to go with the flow, nodding absentmindedly to everything he said.

After classes the next day, I had Power ball practice.

The coach divided the thirteen players on the team into two sub teams. I was in the blue team while Junior was in the orange.

The rules were the same as in official Power ball and I was a defender.

Junior's team attacked and started running towards us.

I looked around then realized a new humanoid blob appear in my water vision, with a pale white, spherical object floating near it.

I looked to see Junior with the ball.

I had never competed with him, in fact, the greatest conflict we had ever had was to be the first to enter the bathroom.

He punched the ball and triplicated the impact, reduced the air resistance and blew a wind to speed it even further.

There was a loud bang as the ball zipped past me like a bullet.

The ball entered the second ring and a silver glow came from it, giving them 10 points.

His comrades were laughing at me but he came to ask,"No hard feelings?"

"Sure."I said.

No more holding back...
