26th Break: Inquiry

"I would like you to tell me where Meng Xing's home is." Lin Ze spoke as he looked at the staff of Huichen who received him.

"Second young master Lin – " the staff spoke.

But Lin Ze cut him off. "'Officer Lin'." He corrected.

"Yes, my apologies, Officer Lin." The staff apologetically smiled. "Sir, you should know that we would have given you sir Meng's information had he not also been a client of Huichen." He spoke. "One of the rules of Huichen is to not reveal any client's information to outsiders, including their name, as a part of confidentiality. But, since you know sir Meng as one of our clients after you met him here, and there is a friendship between the two of you – " he said, almost gnawing the word 'friendship'. " – we accepted your request today to deliver a message to sir Meng on your behalf. But, we will never accept any request concerning any information about sir Meng." He told him.

Lin Ze of course knows this, and he could only sigh in defeat. He has to say that Meng Xing is such a clever ghost. He must have already known about this rule of Huichen so Lin Ze could only feel helpless since Huichen will definitely protect Meng Xing's information.

Indeed, Meng Xing also did this, thus he brazenly 'provoked' Lin Ze a lot. How can Meng Xing not know this rule, which he personally created as the boss of Huichen?

"Even if your client dies, you really won't reveal their information to anyone?" Lin Ze asked. "Even to his friend... or family?" he added.

The staff's smile turned cold when he heard Lin Ze say 'family', for their boss almost became a family with Lin Ze! "Yes." He answered.

Lin Ze already expected this answer. "Alright. I will find him myself." He said as he patted his clothes to leave. But, before he could, a familiar voice spoke from behind them.

"What are you looking me for?" Meng Xing asked as he stood by the door.

Lin Ze looked at him in surprise. "Meng Xing?" he exclaimed. "You... why are you here?" he asked.

The staff: that's because he is our boss, and the owner of this place!

Meng Xing glanced at the staff, who immediately left. "I came here to request them to find out what poison I have in my body." He answered. "And you? Why are you looking for me?" he looked at Lin Ze. "I recalled that I already told Officer Lin to not be bothered with the case I requested of him before?" he said.

"Even if you say so, but how can you find your 'friend' with you now like this?" Lin Ze asked and was about to grab Meng Xing to pull him inside the room where it was warm.

Meng Xing dodged his hand. "I already requested Huichen to do so." He answered.

"But you said so yourself before, Huichen's hands are tied after the officials suppressed them during Merchant Wen's case." Lin Ze said and still grabbed Meng Xing before pulling him inside. "You told me that because your 'friend' might be involved with Merchant Wen's case, and she was also the one who poisoned you." He said.

Meng Xing laughed. "Did I say that?" he asked and pulled his arm from Lin Ze's grasp again. "In any case, Officer Lin, we are not friends and just acquaintances. So don't use such excuses next time to inquire for any information about me again." He told Lin Ze. He felt that his head was aching now.

"I only asked Huichen because I am worried about you!" Lin Ze said and frowned.

Meng Xing coldly smiled. "I don't remember asking for Officer Lin's concern." He told him and turned to leave. Beads of cold sweat appeared on his face and his brows were knitted tight.

"Meng Xing!" Lin Ze shouted and followed him out. But, before he could grab Meng Xing, he saw the other's body sway. "Meng Xing!" he cried and immediately caught the other as Meng Xing fell.

Meng Xing's lips are pressed tightly as he endured the head-splitting pain. These past five years, he thought that the poison would never act up, so he only needed to find someone to remove it from his body. Yet he never expected that the poison would act up now. Such a bad luck!

"Meng Xing!" Lin Ze exclaimed when he felt that Meng Xing's body was shaking.

"Bos... Sir Meng! What happened?!" A staff of Huichen ran towards them when he heard Lin Zs's shout.

"He was poisoned... do you have a doctor here?" Lin Ze asked as he carried Meng Xing in his arms.

The staff froze when he saw that their boss was in Lin Ze's arms! But, this is not the time to hate Lin Ze. "Yes, please follow me!" he answered and hurried to their infirmary with Lin Ze following behind.

In the outskirts of the capital.

"Damn it! Who the hell was that guy?!" a woman cursed in a low voice as she went to open the door of the house where she currently is staying.

There, a family of four were currently tied up with their mouths stuffed with a cloth to prevent them from screaming.

The woman glared at them. "Be lucky that I didn't kill you!" She glared at them.

If she is just not afraid that she would attract the officials of the capital here by killing this family and they would send the officers to investigate, she would have already killed these people.

She sat on a chair as she pondered over what happened that day. She went to the Meng family to visit her friend Meng Zixin, and to also verify whether Meng Ruyan really died five years ago. She hasn't verified her work before because she heard that their sect leader was killed, so she has to leave and return to their sect.

But, today, the idiot Meng Zixin was so excited that she couldn't ask her about her brother. She really felt it was a pity that she hadn't stabbed Meng Ruyan before and only poisoned him! It was because she didn't know where Meng Ruyan's room was! So she could only poison the food reserved for him instead of finding him and killing him directly.
