It took them a while to answer, and when they did it was hardly comforting. “I don’t know,” they grumbled, staring at the pavement ahead of us. I shuffled uncomfortably in my seat, fidgeting with my sleeves. Noticing my discomfort, they continued, “There’s a cabin that the pack owns that no one uses because it’s so far out from the compound. We can head there if you want. If anyone is around, I’ll be able to sense them and we can bail.”

I pulled out my phone to see if Juno had messaged me, but there was nothing. “Do you think that Sammy guy is monitoring Juno’s phone, too?”

Hikaru let out a tired sigh. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Sebastian found her at the house party that night. Which means there’s a good chance, yeah.”

I started to panic. “Then we have to go back! What if they do something to her? You said they have connections, I can’t let something happen to my friend!”
