I laid a hand gently on his chest as though I were trying to keep my balance in order to check his heart rate. After letting him sniff my neck for a few moments, I leaned back and looked down at him with a concerned expression. “I thought the blessing enhanced your healing capabilities, how are you this ill?” I asked.

The alpha slowly shook his head, and said, “Every wolf has their time, pup. I’m sure you have happier things to focus on, now that you are bonded.” His words were formal and strained. “Welcome to the pack. Now please, leave an old wolf to die in peace.”

I was trying my best to be respectful, but I knew I only had a short amount of time with the alpha before someone would ask me to leave. “Why haven’t you spoken with Leigha through mind link? Sebastian and his thugs are actively keeping her away, has it really not occurred to you that they might be responsible for your sickness?”
