Chapter 34
“Is everything okay, kiddo?” Chris said.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Can we go home now?” Ted said.
“We sure can,” Mickey said.
CHRIS FOLLOWED MICKEY upstairs to the master bedroom and waited while he changed.
“No shower today?” Chris said.
“Later, before I go to bed will do.”
“Okay. I’m going to have a quick look at our patient before I get dinner started.” Chris saw that Charley and Joe’s door was open, so he looked in the room. Joe was asleep and Charley was sitting in a chair beside the bed, using his laptop. When he saw Chris, he put the laptop down and came to the door.
“Everything okay?” Chris said.
“Yeah. He was awake for a couple of hours and just went back to sleep.”
“Good. I’m headed down to the kitchen to start our dinner.”
“Part of it is already underway,” Charley said. “I hope you don’t mind.”
“I don’t mind at all. What are we having?”
“I just followed the menu outline that you showed me earlier.”
