The two sat on the icy bench, idly chatting.
"Clatter, clatter, clatter——"
A hurried set of footsteps echoed through the hallway. Shen Kuei, with her hair up and white gown on, was holding a stack of organized files.
She stepped in front of Wilder Pauly, "Captain Pauly, these are the identification files of the deceased. Everything's in order."
Having finished, she handed over the stack of documents. Her eyes carried faint traces of bloodshot, a result of working long hours on autopsy reports with Director Fuller the past few days.
"You've worked hard; you've done well."
Pauly took the files, flipped through them briefly and got to his feet to thank Kate Sharon formally.
He picked up the documents, said goodbye to Caroline Edwin and Shen Kuei, and then hurried off to Director Christopher's office.
Kate licked her chapped lips, "Miss Edwin, I'll take a break first."
