Sean stared, slack-jawed, at his oldest brother.
Even Nick was surprised at what Tyler had said. “What do you mean he bribed our mother?” Nick demanded.
“I mean, he found the prettiest girl he could find and then bribed her parents to push her towards marriage with him. At the time, Mom was just starting out as an artist. Marrying rich meant she didn’t need a day job while she worked on her art.”
Sean stood. He wanted to pace, or go for a run, or just do something with all this energy, but Tyler’s room was too small for him to do more than bounce on his feet next to the door. “How do you know this?”
“Grandparents told me,” Tyler said. “They visit every few months.”
“I didn’t know that,” Nick said.
