Time to find the truth
The study was large and filled with books from floor to ceiling. Platform ladders could be seen in places to facilitate access. At the back of the room, just under the large Victorian window, was placed a large early 20th-century mahogany desk. In the middle of the room was a small nook of sofas and a settee surrounding a small tea table, arranged around a large fireplace with a painting above it. The picture was a portrait of a middle-aged man with fascinating features and lively eyes. Her grandfather, Sebastian thought, studying the man in the frame. If anyone looked like a wizard, it was the man in the portrait. One could imagine that if he had been born a few centuries earlier, he would have been a respected wizeman and many would have visited him for help, advice, and counsel. The family displayed below the art, showed a big and happy family. The man was in most pictures, holding babies and enjoying life. It was a nice way to invoke envy in a person, without malice.
