The sun began to cast its first rays upon the Nioh Empire after the world was forcibly taken from its rightful owners by the unexpected onslaught of monsters—beings we now call 'The Morphs.' These invaders from a different realm sought to destroy and consume everything in their path, unleashing chaos. Humanity fought back valiantly, but it came at a cost greater than anyone had anticipated, shattering the world into three major factions: the European Kingdom of Santa Maria, the American States of Liberty, and the Asian Nioh Imperial Federation. And so, the tale unfolds.
On the 4th of April, in the year 3087 of the Imperial era, Suna gently touched the windowsill as the alarm clock began ringing, coaxing her into consciousness. With a soft yawn, the young lady opened her eyes and rose from bed. After completing her morning routine, she decided to take a bath. As the warm water enveloped her fragile body, steam rose, obscuring the glass that shielded the young woman's form. Once the bath was done, she began to dress, donning a pair of white stockings, a white-blue skirt, and the rest of her military uniform, preparing for the last class of her school years.
Securing an old pendant around her neck, she walked out, ready to face the challenges that awaited her.
In the classroom, the young girl introduced herself as 'Sayuki Mori,' and her final test delved into the extensive knowledge surrounding the Morphs war.
Sayuki began to speak, "Long ago, when the first onslaught occurred, we humans wielded weapons to combat the Morphs. However, the losses led us and the two remaining kingdoms to forge a new path—creating 'Adonis,' an AI capable of controlling the Zeta Orions, the formidable weapons humanity crafted. Those who attain the rank of commodore can command Adonis and lead the squads assigned to them. The most renowned of these is Squadron Forsaken, celebrated for their unimaginable power and tactical prowess."
The class responded with applause and laughter, acknowledging the truth in Sayuki's words. However, the idea of studying warfare only to remain idle drew dismissive reactions. Despite the mixed response, Sayuki excelled not just academically, showcasing her tactical brilliance, but also in forming a strong bond with Adonis. Graduation approached, and as days passed, Sayuki found herself unable to sleep. Her exceptional grades and strategic prowess had earned her the title of Commodore, and through some well-placed connections, she secured a position in charge of Squadron Forsaken—an appointment that would prove to be the greatest mistake ever made.
The day had arrived, and Sayuki followed her usual morning routine, including a refreshing bath and dressing with a smile. Leaving her apartment, she hopped into her Adonis-driven car, ready to be chauffeured to the N.E.M.D where she would serve.
Upon arrival, she was taken aback by the state of the department—men drinking and doing nothing but tarnishing the once-beautiful walls with graffiti. Laughter echoed, glorifying the notion of letting machines perish without any blood on their hands. Disgusted, Sayuki maneuvered through the chaos until she reached her Adonis. Something peculiar occurred as her pendant began to glow, yet she seemed oblivious to it. Settling into the Adonis capsule, the pendant connected to the server as she issued her first order, "Synk. Commodore Sayuki Mori to Squadron Forsaken." In a blink, a flash of light connected her to the server and her squad, consisting of 14 members with code names.
These code names included Phantom, Tempest, Mechanika, Seraph, Vanguard, Phoenix, Frostbite, Specter, Valkyrie, Wraith, Buccaneer, Knight, Warden, and, lastly, Lancelot.
As she attempted to use the command, the pendant opened for the first time, bonding with the Adonis capsule. Another 14 names emerged: Kenzo Aoki, Hana Ishikawa, Yuki Tanaka, Sora Nakamura, Takeshi Kato, Akira Yamamoto, Aoi Takanashi, Rei Hayashi, Mei Kobayashi, Kai Tanaka, Yuuta Guga, Kamina Furyoku, Kyoka Takehira, and Shen Tsuna.
In that moment, Sayuki's eyes widened as a disturbing truth unfolded before her. The pendant fully connected, and an audio port revealed a scene. In her mind, a male voice echoed, "Oh~ it connected after all this time?"
