Chapter 2 - An Opening To Seduce Doom

It was over soon. The moment her mother stopped being angry, she flew right out of the room in tears.

The Elders were used to this, Delice was a really humble girl and she never disobeyed her Queen but when she did, she was always the one that could push the Queen to the very edge of insanity and somehow, she always found a way around her Mother's powerful aura of control.

No one ever did.

When Delice got to her room, she looked at the tall never-ending shelves filled with books that she had been forced to read all these years while others were training to be different things in future.

Delice had always wanted to be a Guardian. Being a Guardian meant honour, respect and power. For Delice and many others, the chain of power went thus; The Queen, The Seven High Elders, The Guardians, then all others.

The Homers were part of the 'all Others', their job was to stay locked up in a tower and guard the Stones of Balance for eternity.

They were special too but the fact remained, that wasn't what Delice wanted to be.

Why then should she be part of the Homers if she could be a Guardian? She had trained all these years in secret, hadn't she? She had been hoping to join the Guardian Selection Contest that would be taking place soon, but her Mother had already made a decision for her before the Selection began.

This enraged her.

Why did her Mother refuse to give her all these opportunities? Why did her Mother not find her worthy enough to be a Guardian? What exactly was she lacking? Why wasn't she enough?

She flopped to her bed and wrapped herself in her wings, while she wept till her eyes ached. When she got tired, she flew up to the window and looked out.

It was slowly getting dark.

Everyone would be preparing for the contest now in their rooms, no one was stopping them or making decisions for them.

Oh, she would give anything to be in their place right now.

Then a thought occured to her.

If her Mother and the High Elders found her unworthy of being a Guardian, all she had to do was prove them wrong.

Now, how could she do that?

Simple! By capturing a Dark Soul.

That was what Guardians did anyways, they capture Dark Souls in order to protect the Earth Realm.

She flew happily to her shelf, pushed some books back, arranged and them in a specific order, then watched the shelf slowly fold back to reveal another shelf behind it. She took out her bag from the shelf. In it were her needed weapons, two daggers, her magical lasso and her armour. She knew the binding spell too, so she was definitely set for this.

She dressed up, pulled the hood over her head and put everything back to place.

If they come knocking, there would be no response and it would look like she had decided to lock herself in as usual. Given what had happened tonight, it was entirely believable.

She had confidence that she wouldn't fail, she was after all trained by the best Guardian they had.

So with that, she flew out, passing by busy beings quickly so that none had the time to recognize her.

The passage way to the Earth Realm was never really guarded because the Queen's law had a binding power to keep people in check. So only the Guardians ever went close to the passage way.

Now, she was approaching it and a wreaking pain shot through her body. Her wings started to slow down like she was flying against a force too powerful, but she continued forward. Suddenly, she groaned in pain and crashed to the floor. She coughed out blood as her throat tightened with pain and hot tears burnt behind her eyes.

She felt so weak.

A failure.

If she were to go back like this, she would be a failure forever. It would mean that they were right.

She was too weak.

Fragile.

A delicate being.

No, she had to do better!

Knowing that this might be the only chance she would ever get, Delice stood, and flew against the force, not minding the blood that ran down her nose, the increased tightened in her throat or the feeling that her body might explode if she didn't stop.

Fight!

She did but the force was mighty and she was thrown right back to the ground.

She groaned in frustration, clawing her nails against the ground.

As she mumbled words to herself, she could taste the saltiness of her tears.

"I want to be a Guardian. I can be a Guardian," she repeated fighting her Mother's voice that filled her head.

Weak.

Fragile.

Delicate little Delice.

She heaved a sigh, standing back up once again.

After a couple of moments of deep thinking, she flew back to a considerable distance, then watched the small glowing portal that looked like a circular hole with clourful sharp lightening flashing in it, that was etched into the clouds. Then she flew at full force, this time around she didn't fight against the force, instead, she absolved it, allowing the pain to course through her veins, ignoring out it wreaked it.

She finally got into the portal, but in there the pain was ten times more, and in no time, she was fighting against it once again.

She growled loudly, pushing forward, till she couldn't help but scream.

This time around, it felt like whole body was truly going to explode.

Then suddenly, it was gone, all of it and she could finally feel herself falling into the Earth Realm.

Flying, a weak smile played on her lips.

Delicate little Delice wasn't that delicate after all.
