Chapter 32: Nervous Energy

“Are you nervous?” Silas asked as we walked up the stone steps and onto the concrete front patio.

When we were near the front double doors, I realized the knockers on it were werewolf heads. I almost wanted to laugh, but I also couldn’t. I was beyond intrigued. “Okay, be honest with me. How long has this house been in your family?”

“Um, like around the Declaration of Independence,” he said.

“Oofta.”

He chuckled. “Are you avoiding my question?” He spun me to face him, so I could not ignore him.

I sighed and nodded. “Of course, I’m nervous. How can I not be? I mean, it’s your family and your pack. I’m an outsider. I haven’t met anyone but the guys. Are their fathers around? What about their moms? Do you have aunts, uncles, and cousins? How big is this family exactly?”

Silas bit down on his lip to keep from smiling, but it didn’t work.

“Don’t you dare laugh at me,” I muttered.
