Tyrant of Norgon

The sky above was an unbroken expanse of dull gray, obscured by layers of thick clouds that cast a pall of gloom over the land below.

While beneath this dull heaven, a vast endless void stretched out in all directions, devoid of any life.

With nothing to boast of, other than the occasional sand storms, it appeared completely dull and lifeless.

But suddenly at one of its locations, some changes started taking place as countless light particles materialized out of thin air and started to flutter around a particular location.

As its intensity grew, a figure of a person emerged from within those flickering light particles.

Dressed in tattered armor, smeared with blood stains, his delicately carved face was covered in many scars and his complexion appeared rather pale.

It was almost as if, he had returned from a battlefield.

'Am I dead?'

Unclear about his whereabouts, he thought to himself as he lifted his head to look around him.

'Who'd have thought that my end would be so miserable?'

Sulking, as he thought about his final moment, a fleeting feeling of sadness flooded his heart which brought him to his knees.

For a while, he continued to sulk.

But all of a sudden, laughter welled up inside him as he couldn't suppress his urge to laugh out loud, "Hahaha...., Good. Now, I can finally take a rest"

Spending most of his life on the battlefield, he had achieved countless feats and made a reputation for himself as the Tyrant of Norgon, he had plundered countless kingdoms and massacred an uncountable number of beings both living and dead.

By doing so, he had erected a powerful empire from scratch. Norgon empire which boasted an impressive land mass of more than 5.6 million square kilometers; he was the ruler of such a massive kingdom.

But even so, despite achieving so many things in life, he still couldn't beat death. Neither was his life ever peaceful. Surrounded by hungry hyenas vying for his throne, he neither could sleep peacefully nor could walk with peace of mind.

While waging wars, while continuing his tyrannical expedition to expand his empire, he had made too many enemies.

And he had already accepted the possibility that one day, among those enemies one would come after his neck and successfully behead him.

Finally, at the early age of 34, he perished from the world while fighting his last battle.

"But who'd have thought that I would die at the hands of my people?" Kaiser mumbled as he threw his tired body on the sandy surface.

Even after knowing that he was betrayed by his people, not the least bit of regret could be seen on his face.

Aware of people's character, he knew that eventually he'd get betrayed sooner or later. After all, the treasure he possessed was simply too much for anyone not to lust after.

Kaiser then stood upright and grunted as he looked into the distant horizon, "But where the hell is this promised Palace of Warriors?"

As far as he could see, he couldn't find anything that resembled a palace.

Often during his time as a warrior, he had been told that after a warrior died on a battlefield during a battle, he'd get to enter the Palace of Warriors where he'd be greeted by angels, delicious wines, past warriors, divine beauties and a peace of mind.

For a split second, Kaiser felt like he had entered the wrong place, "Did my soul get lost because I died from getting stabbed in the back?"

Then again, he shook his head as he cussed in fury, "F*ck!! Why does it matter how you die? They didn't tell you that you have to take a sword on your chest or any specific way of dying to enter the Palace of Warriors... "

Being the only one present there, as he spoke, his voice reverberated in turn sounding even louder.

Hearing the prolongation of his voice, another thought occurred to him, 'Perhaps..., I'm not dead'

After dying, at least in theory, his senses should be getting dull, but strangely enough, he could feel his senses as sharp as ever. Even the texture of his flesh and skin, he could feel it as if he were alive.

If it was his soul, shouldn't he not be able to feel his flesh?

What about his breathing? What about his pulses? What about his heartbeat?

He could feel all those vividly fine.

For some while, as those thoughts occurred to him, he kept checking his condition, like his hearing, sense of smell, heartbeat, and pulse, heck he even shoved a handful of sand into his mouth to feel his sense of taste.

Ptooey!! Ptooey!!

Disgusted by the sandy taste of the sand, he started spitting violently.

Although his ideas were rather bizarre, at least it helped him to confirm his doubts.

While he continued spitting, trying to eliminate the disgusting taste of sand, a sly smile blossomed on his face as his eyes flashed with excitement and satisfaction.

He knew that he was alive.

Sure, he was aware of the betrayal. And as long as he was dead, he wouldn't have thought much of that matter.

But now that he was alive, would he do the same thing?

Obviously not.

Kaiser had never been the kind type. Even in the past when enemies would attack him without notice, he had made sure to repay the favor tenfold.

Once, when he had caught the sniff of the plot of one of his vassals, he had eliminated the entire lineage of that vassal.

But now, somebody had managed to pierce a sword behind his back, would he let go of them easily?

No, even death would be a luxury to them.

"Hahaha...." letting out a burst of maniacal laughter, Kaiser raised his fist as he vowed to take revenge on those who had betrayed him.

"But then again, where am I?" he murmured with a comically blank look on his face as the realization of his situation dawned on him.
