Blackstreet

Yuki tracked down the hollow like Spiritual pressure, while Kai desperately chased her from behind. Even just running like this, catching up to her was a chore by itself.

"Can't you slow down a little?"

She ignored him.

Eventually the two would arrive at the more rural part of the city. Not as lively as the main area, but with scarce amounts of people and businesses. The building the two stood before.

It was a small abandoned building. The structure is covered in shattered tiles, and the facade features numerous windows, some of which are broken. Overgrown trees and vegetation surround and partially obscure the building, indicating long-term neglect. The building's condition told its story of a couple decades worth of neglect.

"Are you sure they're in that place? It doesn't look very... homey?"

"Whats wrong? Don't tell me you're scared of it? You already froze up in front of that hollow, I don't need you being scared of the dark too."

"Wha- I was just saying. It's a rather odd place to be right now."

Before they entered, Kai took note of the black smoke rising from out of a window in the back.

Once the two broke in, they were introduced to a hallway filled with debris from broken walls, a collapsing ceiling and some vegetation that forced its way inside. There were even puddles of dirty sewage water that leaked in somehow.

Once the two arrived to the third wall, they came upon a door that was breaking down. Yuki suddenly halted in front of it, signaling to Kai that there were two people inside of there.

"Only two? I'll take care of it."

"Don't do anything rash you idiot. Get behind me."

As revenge for last time, Kai ignored her demands and went straight in. He was met with what appeared to be a poorly dressed homeless man and a much better dressed girl. She wore a noticeable pink scarf and a maroon long coat. In between them, there was a cooking pot.

"Who are you?", the girl asked.

"The real question is... who are you?"

With a look of frustration she turned to the homeless looking guy.

"Big bro!? I think that's another anyoing ghost."

"I can't see them? You know what to do."

She grabbed onto her scarf which caused it to grow larger at an extreme rate. It's end then fired towards Kai, but he ducked and dodged it at the last second. The scarf ended up hitting the wall behind him, destroying it.

"What the heck?? Calm down!"

The elongated scarf quickly bounced back, and traveled towards Kai once again. But them it suddenly halted, as Yuki grabbed it.

She came into the girls view before giving her a death stare.

"Keep doing that, and I'll cut off both your limbs."

She suddenly started to break down crying, as she hugged her brother.

"She's really scary, please do something!!"

"I already told you I can't see them?"

He looked up, and tried to identify the location of Yuki and Kai, but it would be all for naught. He cleared his voice, before shouting,

"Spirits! Please forgive her. This girl doesn't mean you any harm. She's just a little confused."

Kai gawked at his apology. Spirits?? What an old fashioned term! But it wouldn't be wrong to say that he WAS a spirit now. Nevertheless he was a little dumbfounded. A little girl almost killed him? How weak was he??

The source of the hollow spiritual pressure, which Yuki sensed had been coming from this girl. But she was defiantly not a hollow nor Shinigami, not was she just a human.

Then suddenly Kai got a horrible feeling. These sensations he was getting from her, were similar yet different to his killers.

"What are you?", he asked.

The girl gaining a little bit of self confidence introduced herself with the older male as Linny and Poh. Naturally, the other two introduced themselves as Soul Reapers in training.

"So what are you two doing in here? don't you have homes to be in? Especially a little girl like you.", Yuki asked.

"Little?? I'll have you know that I'm turning 12 this year!"

"That's still quite young.", Kai said bluntly.

She began to cry again, while pinching onto Poh. He patted her head lightly to comfort her. eventually she tired herself out and fell asleep.

"I'm sorry about her. You're probably wondering why she's living with a guy like me right now? I can't see nor hear you so I can't expect any answers. but I hope you won't mind if I ramble on a little?"

Kai sat down in front of the fire while Yuki kept her composure, listening from a distance.

"We need to figure out what happened to that Soul Reaper. We don't have time to listen to this hobo."

Kai smacked his fist into the ground, declaring his insubordination to Yuki.

"If you want to go on ahead then feel free. The last time I didn't hear people out they suffered because of me. I won't let that happen again."

She sighed too herself before leaving the building. Just as she did Poh began to tell their story.

"It was around 6 months ago when I first met her. She stumbled in here by chance looking for shelter from the rain. I tried to take her to the police, but then she used those strange powers of hers to stop me. I asked her about where she came from, but she didn't bother answering. All she said was that she was running away from 'bad people'. I asked her what they would do to her if they caught her, but she kept quiet about that too."

"So you're just as clueless about her as me?"

Kai then remembered that Poh couldn't see him. He laughed to himself a little.

"I used to have a little sister but she died a long time ago. Linny reminds me of her. Seeing her suffering all by herself scared me I guess. That's why I've been with her up until now."

Hearing Poh's story reminded Kai about his mother for some reason. He wondered what she was up to, and if she had recovered from that incident. Suddenly Linny yawned wide awake from her quick nap.

"I dozed off a little... that strange ghost is still here..."

"Ah! So you were still here after all! Kai was it? Thanks for listening to me for a bit. Having no one else to talk to but a child can get quit boring, but I guess I might as well be speaking to air right now!"

He started to laugh, looking at the irony of the situation. Suddenly Yuki came back looking puffing heavily.

"Kai, I need you to come take a look this urgently."

He was about to refuse, but then she made a face which he possibly couldn't say no too. Kai ended up following her outside, but as he walked past a broken window he saw a strange oddity outside.

There appeared to be spherical ball of darkness trapping the building and everyone inside it. Despite its shade, there still seemed to be natural sunlight entering the dome.

"What the hell is that?", Kai asked in surprise.

"It appeared the second I was about to leave. I tried to break it with a full incantation level 20 Kido spell, but it withstood it somehow. Additionally, I can't sense the spiritual pressure of anything on the other side, so I don't know whose doing this."

The two of them then heard the blood curdling screams of Linny, echoing through out the hallway.
