Chapter 15

"What do you mean 'we have to awaken her powers'?!" Kensei yelled at me after I had explained a 'tiny' problem we had to deal with before starting to train.

"Why would they even need to awakened?! And why didn't you do anything before coming here?!"

"In my defense we thought that we were going to train with Urahara and I was planning to make him deal with it." I admitted with a shrug which made Tatsuki's eyes widen and Kensei to finally calm down.

"Understandable." The silver headed Vizard said with a nod.

"No it's not! You seriously didn't awaken them just to mess with that bucket hat?!" Tatsuki yelled at me with a clenched fist beside her face and veins pulsing on her forehead.

"Yes." I admitted the awful truth and then tilted my head in order to casually avoid Tatsuki's punch. And did it again in order to avoid another punch. And prepared to do so again but a orange transparent wall appeared between us and Tatsuki knelt while trying to soothe her fist that had met the barrier in a less than pleasant way.

"Please, neither of you have much time and should not waste it like this." The one speaking, also the one who formed the barrier, was Hachi. The soft spoken Vizard in green suit had his hands clasped together and an aura of kindness and patience was oozing out of him.

"Thank you for volunteering with the girl, Hachi." Kensei said as the giant of a man nodded rather than make any issue of his friend shoving responsibility that was shoved on him shoving on him.

He simply walked away from them with Tatsuki following closely behind him.

"Ok, now your training." Kensei begun gruffly but I interrupted him.

"Before that, the mask thing loli baba did, how do you do that?"

"We are Vizards, Shinigami who gained hollow powers."

"No, I already got that. I meant as in how do you put the masks on?" I clarified my question which seemed to just confuse him.

"I focus on hollow spiritual energy and then pull it down my face." The muscled Shinigami shrugged and honestly, that sounded easy enough.

So I just put my hand on my forehead focused on hollow like energy and pulled it down.

And I had a mask.

"What the fuck?!" That was rude.

"What, is there something on my face?" I asked cheekily. Was it childish? Yes. Was it funny? Also yes.

"How the fuck did you do that?! And why aren't you a raging berserk monster?!" The Shinigami frantically asked with a frown on his face, not looking happy.

"I focused hollow spiritual energy and pulled it down my face." I shrugged, he himself had just explained this.

"By the way, how do I look?" I asked with a smile… that he probably couldn't see. But it did seem to piss him off as he attacked me with his fist glowing with spiritual energy.

Guess the training has started.

<Tatsuki POV>

It might be mean of her but she definitely felt some amount of vindication when Kensei's fist met Cain's face. She didn't care much about the mask but she knew he probably did it in a sick move and deserved that punch.

"Arisawa-san, please concentrate." The green suited giant chided the schoolgirl with a patient expression on his face while he was trying to help her awaken her powers.

"Yeah sorry, uhm…" And she realized that she didn't know his name and felt bad.

"Ushōda Hachigen, you can call me Hachi if you prefer." Thank heavens the man was a gentle giant, Tatsuki had no idea how a guy this nice could stand the rest of the people here since they seemed to a bit… insane.

"Yeah, what do you want me to do?" She asked, she was ready for training and Rukia needed their help, even if she hadn't know the short girl very well.

"You said that it was Cain-san who gave you your powers. Can you explain it a bit more for me?" Hachi asked as he sat down with crossed legs.

"Umm, yeah. He said something about carving a word on my soul and it giving me powers…" Tatsuki trailed off, she still wasn't sure that she understood much of what had been happening for the last few days.

"I see." Hachi hummed with a thoughtful expression before the girl with glasses slapped the back of his head.

"'I see' my ass! Be a bit more shocked when somebody tells you that they had their soul carved!" The Shinigami dressed as a schoolgirl admonished her large friend who seemed indifferent to her attitude.

"There is no reason for me to be shocked, this has already happened and me being shocked will not help us in this instance." Hachi calmly said and Tatsuki decided that the large man in green suit was too nice to exist.

"You said that he carved a 'word'. What exactly is the word that he carved?" Hachi asked gently.

"Tatsu(Dragon)." Tatsuki shrugged and then glared at Lisa as the female Shinigami snorted.

"Tatsuki gets Tatsu huh? At least we know that this guy has a sense of humor."

"Lisa, please do not interrupt the lesson." Hachi sighed at the schoolgirl cosplayer who just stuck her tongue out before turning towards where Cain was training with Kensei.

"Now, Arisawa-san, please give me you hand." Hachi asked gently as he held out one his very large hands.

With a shrug, Tatsuki put her hand in the green suited giant's palm and then stiffened as she felt… something.

"What you are feeling right now is spiritual energy. I need you to memorize this feeling. You can take your hand off once you do so." Tatsuki nodded at Hachi's explanation and after a minute, took her hand back.

"Now, please try to focus on the feeling you just memorized and when you feel your own power, focus on this 'carving'." Hachi instructed her and after what felt like minutes, she could feel herself changing.

<Hachigen POV>

Arisawa-san changed before Hachi's eyes.

She got slightly taller and the muscles on her arms and legs became far more distinct and they also got a more scaly appearance as her skin's color changed to red. And even if it was inappropriate for him to make such an observation, he could see her chest and rear become slightly bigger. After that a red reptilian tail grew from her just above her rear and her nails grew until they were short claws

Then Arisawa-san opened her eyes to reveal yellow irises with catlike pupils.

"Did it work?" The young girl asked and as she spoke Hachi could see that her teeth had also became quite a bit sharper, almost like that of a shark's.

"I… believe it did." Cause honestly, there wasn't a nicer way to say it.

"Damn girl you became hot!" But there definitely was a cruder way to say it as Lisa proved it as she whistled with a bleeding nose.
