Born a Shuri

After the glorious victory in the 'Great War for Dominance' , the magic council was established. The main agenda of the magic council was to function as the new beacon of hope for mankind. It had six members in total, including the Grand master and the five great heroes who leaded the humans to victory in the great war. The predecessors of these five war heroes then came to be known as the Five Royal Family. The five Royal families include, the Ruths, Ezaya, Delkir, Yara and the Shuri.

Through generations, the position of Grand Master is filled by the strongest mage alive. Whereas, the seats for other members of the magic council is decorated by the heads of each royal family. The head position in most of the Royal family, is passed down from parent to child, from father to the eldest son or daughter, except in the Ezaya family. The members of the royal families are highly respected all over the world, some even consider them equal to Gods. The children who are born into these five families often grows up to become extremely powerful mages.

Out of all the five families, Shuri family is considered the most powerful, since there were four Grand master from this particular family, who preceded the magic council in the past. Whereas for the other families the count is less than three. Also the affiliated God of the Shuri family is one of the three prime gods, the sun God Mitra. They are the only existing family all over the world to worship a prime God.

The present head of the Shuri family is Ethian Shuri, a very kind and warm hearted person. He has three sons. The elder one is Alsteir Shuri, who is the user of rare light magic. He currently works as the captain commander of the southern royal army, regiment directly under control of the magic council. The second one is Albert Shuri, who is an expert in healing magic, a reknowned doctor and also a researcher. At last, but not the least, the youngest one is Alfred Shuri, who is a chief military training instructor. Their mother, lady Diane died of an unknown disease when Alfred was just two years old. Thereafter, Ethian is everything for the three of them. Ethian Shuri also has a younger brother, Richard Shuri. Richard Shuri is the most wealthiest man in Vitas city, a business tycoon. He have two wives and four sons who are also part of the Shuri family. All the members of Shuri family had great respect for Ethian and love him very much. So they never dare oppose any of his decisions and commands. Another notable aspect of the shuri family are their eyes. The iris of the ones born into this family is red in color.

One day, in a party held at the residence of Shuri family to celebrate the suppression of Gustuv city orc raid by the southern royal army's fifth division, into which many elite families were invited, Alsteir Shuri met the love of his life, Annabeth Lesley. Annabeth was the second child of William Lesley, the head of elite Lesley family. It was love at first sight. Both Alsteir and Annabeth fell for each other deeply. Knowing Alsteir's interest and for the love of his son, Ethian forwarded a marriage proposal to the Lesley family. The Lesley family had no reasons to reject, instead they deemed themselves very lucky to have their daughter married into a royal family. Their wedding was a celebration the lands never seen before. The whole world wished happiness for the couple.

A year passed. Annabeth became pregnant with their first child. The couple was very happy. Not just them, the whole Shuri family and the city of Vitas joined in their happiness. But the happiness didn't last long. It is believed that, at the sixth month inside the mother's womb, the baby will show his or her magic affinity. For this a vigour crystal is used.

The vigour crystal is a large oval shaped magical crystal, which is pure white in color. It changes its color with respect to the magic affinity of that certain person exposed to it. For example, if the person touching it is a fire magic user, the color of crystal will change to red and if it is a water magic user, the color will change to blue. During pregnancy, a mothers mana points shuts down. The magical aura then emitted from her body belongs to the baby. Using a vigour crystal to know the magic affinity of a baby in its mothers womb at the sixth month is a common practice all over the world.

Everyone in the Shuri family were very much excited that day, to know the magical ability the child holds. Albert Shuri brought the vigour crystal enclosed in a box. He put on some special purpose gloves and opened the box. He took out the white bright crystal and placed it on the table in front of Annabeth. He asked his sister-in-law to touch the crystal. Annabeth slowly touched it. Everyone was eagerly looking as if something amazing is about to happen. But there was nothing, the crystal didn't had any change in color or anything. Everyone was shocked. At first all suspected the crystal was a fake. So they did the same by bringing an another one. There was no change of results. Albert checked the mana points in her hand. He felt no magic energy. So it was concluded, the baby does not have any magical abilities. Everyone gathered around were disappointed hearing the news. Alsteir was furious and left the room in anger. Annabeth sat down on the chair not knowing what to do. Many were looking at her with disgust. Understanding his daughter-in-law's situation, Ethian ordered the maids to take Anna to her room and care for her.

The news spread like wild fire. The child of Alsteir Shuri is a 'dud'. Dud is the word, the world call a child born with no magical abilities. Many rumors were forged. Some say it happened because of mixing the dirty blood of Lesley family with the pure blood of Shuri family. Others say a curse befell the family. Some worse people even said the baby is not Alsteir Shuri's but from a extramarital affair of Annabeth.

Alsteir Shuri couldn't forgive this disgrace which fell upon the Shuri family because of this unborn child. He was sickened by all the rumours. He even heard some close relatives, his brothers making fun of him. The pride of Shuri family was damaged because of this child and to be called the child's father, it felt very shameful to Alsteir. He wished to get rid of the baby before it is born. One day, an extremely drunk Alsteir quarreled with Annabeth on this matter. But Anna was persistent on keeping the baby. Their loud shouts attracted the attention of other people in the mansion. When the dispute got too much intense and Alsteir was about to hit Anna, Ethian had to intervene.

Ethian commanded " Anna will keep the baby. He will be my first Grand kid"

Ethian's decision is final in the family and no one dare oppose, especially Alsteir who respected his every decision. But this time blinded by intoxication, he lost all his cool.

Alsteir shouted" This...This wretched thing is what you call your grandson? Have you lost your mind, great Ethian Shuri?!"

Alsteir's behavior snapped Ethian. He roared " Alsteir...know your place..."

An immense amount of magical aura surrounded Ethian, frightening everyone around. Alsteir did not said a word after that and left the scene. The next day he left the mansion without telling anyone, to somewhere far away.

Soon that news arrived, the moons are about to collide in several months time. The bad news engulfed the rumors encircling the Shuri family. Instead of talking about the 'dud' son of Alsteir Shuri, everyone started to discuss about the fate of the world. All the mages of the order were summoned to take part in the process of countering the deadly dark energy discharged from the moons. All the Shuris except Ethian left Vitas city to other far away cities, in the name of participating in the ritual against the collision of red moons, since none of them wanted to be around when that child is born. Because they also had the same mindset as Alsteir and considered the baby a disgrace to the family.

Thus on that same day, the world was facing one of the greatest threat in human history, he was also born, a child with red iris , Darius Shuri. After Darius was born, nobody came to visit Annabeth and her newborn child, not even her own parents. She fell into a deep abyss of depression thinking about the future of her child and the hate the world showering on him. But what hurt her the most was the fact Alsteir not coming to see her and the baby. Her health was deteriorating day by day. She was not even eating properly.

Considerate of his daughter-in-laws well being, Ethian wrote a message to Alsteir describing Anna's situation. Receiving the message, Alsteir who is still in love with his wife left to Vitas the next second. Upon reaching he rushed to Anna's room and hugged her. They were talking to each other very pleasantly. Alsteir apologized to Annabeth for leaving her side. Just then, the baby who was sleeping in the cradle nearby the bed, little Darius started to cry. Anna had almost forgotten the presence of little Darius in that momentary happiness upon seeing her husband after a long time. She took him into her hands and showed him to Alsteir. Alsteir's face changed.

He said in a disappointed tone "Anna, my feelings for you is still the same , never changed, I love you with all my heart. And my feelings for this baby is also still unchanged, I cannot accept it as my son"

After saying these words and wishing her well, Alsteir left the room. Annabeth was sad but hoped Alsteir will one day love this kid, as she know her husband is not a cruel hearted person.

Thus Darius grew up without the love of his own father. Three years after Darius was born, Annabeth again got pregnant with Alsteir's kid. Everyone of the Shuri family had not much expectations and thought this baby could also be a 'dud'. Alsteir was extremely worried on this matter, whereas Annabeth was perfectly ready to accept the baby whatever it is. That day came, when it is time to test the baby's magic affinity. Albert brought the vigour crystal and asked Annabeth to touch it. Something very surprising happened. Upon being touched by Annabeth, the crystal turned red in colour and shattered into millions of pieces. Everyone was shocked. No one had any explanation on what happened. Then Ethian Shuri came forward and ordered to bring a greater vigour crystal. Astonished everyone started looking at each other and discuss.

Vigour crystals are of two types; lesser vigour crystal and greater vigour crystal. Usually a lesser vigour crystal is enough to determine the magic affinity from the magic aura emitted out of a person. The greater vigour crystal is hundread times more powerful than a lesser vigour crystal and is used only on beings superior in magic abilities.

The greater vigour crystal was brought in by the order of Ethian Shuri. Annabeth touched it. It tuned red, cracked and shattered to pieces just like the lesser crystal. Albert checked the mana points in Annabeth's hands. In a voice filled with amazement he said " Wonderful!...it is pulsating in a beautiful rythm!"

Hearing Albert's words, Ethian smiled. The smile then became a loud laughter. All the people gathered around, the maids and members of Shuri family gazed in awe at Ethian Shuri. He patted on Alsteir Shuri's shoulder and said" Congratulations my son, it seems like your child is a true gem. To hold this much magic power being a fetus is truly rare. He surely will uphold the pride of Shuri family one day."

Alsteir was very happy to the point that tears of joy rolled down his cheeks. Not just Alsteir, all members of Shuri family rejoiced. People of Vitas who heard the happy news celebrated. They forgot the existence of 'dud' Darius Shuri.

In the middle of the night, Ethian Shuri was sailing in deep serious thoughts looking at the sky from the balcony. He was talking to his dead wife in his own thoughts " Diane, it seems our second grandchild is a very special one and everyone is very happy about it, I am also glad. But I am worried about something..."

Just then he heard a call from the back "Grandpaaa..."

It was little Darius who came running towards Ethian.

Ethian asked " Why are you still not in your bed young man?!"

Darius replied with a sweet smile " I sneaked past mother to show you some thing..."

There was a small sheet of paper in his hands. He showed it to Ethian. There was a simple drawing of a man, a woman and two kids on this paper.

Ethian asked who these are. Darius replied " Father, mother, me and my little brother"

Ethian couldn't help but smile. He told him " Say Darius, would you like to make a promise to grandpa?"

"What is it grandpa?" Darius asked

Ethian remained silent for some seconds. Darius was looking at him eagerly to know what Ethian was going to say. Then he said " Never hate your little brother, ok?"

Darius replied with a smile " Hate?! Why?...I will always love him and take care of him ... he is my sweet little brother, ain't he?"

Ethian smiled again hearing the innocent reply of Darius.

He asked " That's a promise, right?"

Darius replied" Yes,yes...hehe"
